damien hirst retrospective - saatchi gallery
by: Alastair Lee editor  Monday 01 September 2003
I'm not a big art lover. I mean i like it but i don't crave it or follow it closely. But i really enjoyed my trip to the saatchi gallery the other day. There is some super-clever thought provoking stuff in there. From Richard Wilson's room filled with engine oil creating a black mirror, to the classic Myra Hindley hand painting, to Hirst's dead animals in tanks to Chris Ofili's beautiful paintings with vaginas and elephant dung stuck on them. It was both an education in recent british contemporary art and a fun fair for the senses. I liked it so much i bought the book.

Mind you - Damien Hirst's '1000 years' is daaaark.
