Polite rap that might buy you a pint. Like a cockney John Malkovich, Jack Allsop lets us inside his head for this heavily autobiographical album. But it’s not the life of an international film star and shagging Catherine Keener that we get to experience, worse luck. Rather, a trip down Allsop’s own memory lane, with all the emotional ups and downs discussed over tight if toothless hip-hop beats. Imagine Nick Hornby rewriting Original Pirate Material for thirtysomethings – more mundane but also more mature, and more likely to buy you a pint than glass you with one.
