The Welsh Wonders’ most coherent album to date. Weaving from floaty swoons and joyous rock‘n’roll to West Coast pedal-steel soul and gorgeously winding folk-pop, this sunny gem is (believe it!) the Welsh Wonders’ most stylistically coherent album yet. But beneath the beautifully gleaming sonic wash, Gruff Rhys’ soft cashmere blanket of a voice tells wise, poignant tales of life, loss and love - their pathos and melancholy counterbalanced with sweet ridiculousness and silly humour. This is an astonishing album that lives, breathes and grows. Go with it.
