kings of leon 'youth and young manhood'

A brilliant raw rock‘n’roll debut from the Deep South’s royalty.

At once as retro as their 70s haircuts, yet oh so very now, this debut from three young Tennessee brothers and cousin (youngest is just 17) is so stupendously catchy it’ll make your feet twitch, then latch onto your cerebral cortex, burrow into your brain and claim squatters rights. Caleb Followill’s Southern Comfort-soaked growl is irresistible and rips through the ferocious gravelly blues rock, twanging geetars and rockabilly riffs of their swamped-wrecked tunes like a Tornado through the sound barrier. Absolutely essential. (9/10) Alexia Loundras 04 July 03

Kings Of Leon - Youth And Young Manhood, released 07 July 03 on Handmedown Records.
