Danger! High Voltage! Silliness on the dancefloor. It’s puerile and sexist, yet it’s hard to take offence. Although the Detroit band blew their wad on their first single – the ace, yelping disco rock of Danger! High Voltage! – their debut LP is a preposterous, yet highly addictive novelty record which spot-on apes the overblown excesses of poodle-haired stadium rockers, and anyone else the former five-piece (three members have just quit) fancy ridiculing. It promises no depth and delivers none – just incendiary hooks, dance-fuelled stompers and total silliness. Spinal Tap on your stereo.
