Tricky - Vulnerable (Anti)
As expected, this seventh album from trip-hop grandad Tricky - aka Bristolian Adrian Thaws - leaks brooding atmospherics and throbbing beats. At it’s best, Tricky’s metal-edged grumble is reduced to a whisper allowing porno-voiced collaborator Constanza Francavilla to dominate: Car Crash is a dreamy number that engulfs you in thick smoky swathes, while the delicate Dear God is windingly hypnotic and The Love Cats cover crackles with tension.
