Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton are together again after their sabbaticals with Lucky Pierre and Malcolm’s solo album. They’ve also recruited a full-time violin player and cellist which makes Monday At The Hug And Pint a dramatic string-laden journey through life’s ups and downs. There are also disco beats, plaintive ballads and the odd snatch of bagpipes. It’s a personal album, hurt and honest with lyrics like “f**k me said he, f**k you said she”. Quirky and very Scottish.
