Blur – Think Tank (Parlophone)
And then there were three. Blur are one man down, but Think Tank appears not to have suffered from the band’s split from Graham Coxon. Quite the reverse, their seventh album, contains some of their most accomplished work to date. It’s definitely Blur (quirky while not at the expense of a tune), but it also embraces a much more grown up approach than their earlier work, particularly Albarn’s new found interest in world music. Less immediate than some of the older stuff Think Tank is a definite grower. Which begs the question, are Blur this generation’s Beatles? Whatever. They’ve still got it. Matt Walton 02 May 03
