cinema - ararat

Ararat
This is a film about the genocide of Armenians in 1915. It’s also a treatise on how we warp history. And a biopic of the great Armenian painter Arshile Gorky. And a meditation on the filmmaking process, featuring tiny 70s crooner Charles Aznavour. Earnest arthouse film buffs will love it. Sadly, though, the rest of us will find it all a little too contrived to be anything but a Very Clever Film made by brainiac director Atom Egoyan for other Very Clever People to talk about.
