It is not often that an album comes along without any publicity, receives a few rave reviews and then disappears without even being released. The second album by New York duo Vinny Cafiso and Tabitha Tindale has not yet been released in the UK or USA due to a rumoured financial debacle on the part of Ministry of Sound, whose unwise investment in Fischerspooner has meant that all funds to MoS's subsidiary, 13Amp, have been frozen. This would seem like pure bad luck if it were not for the fact that the album's producer is none other than Kevin Shields, legendary genius behind My Bloody Valentine's Loveless, another enigmatic album dogged by financial difficulties. Still, on the evidence of the single, Ron, and the track 'Alzheimers' which appeared on last month's Jockey Slut CD, the pair manage to revive much of MBV's earlier sound of wandering melodies and menacing undertones, while sounding utterly fresh. Let's home Ministry put together the budget soon, or another Loveless could be in the making... meanwhile the myth gathers pace.
