Wed 12 Nov 2008 16:24:21 GMT+1 BLUESNIK http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/betsanpowys/2008/11/lib_dems.html?page=9#comment5 Where is the Forward Badger Party (FDP) when we need them?Ron Davis, former leader of the Forward Badger Party (FBP/RIP) today said that the expression, “British Badgers” was extremely offensive to badgers, “who cherished their specific local nationality and Welsh woodland walkways.” Ron went on…”I have met many nationalist badgers at all times of the day (and night) and they certainly do not recognise the term “British”. They are proud animals who are at the forefront in the movement for immediate Welsh independence. Along with the Druid Ducks, but not the Swans 'cos they are all Tories.”NOTE: For younger readers….Ron was the lead guitarist in the ‘60s Welsh rock band, “The Silver Badgers” who could have been “As big as the Beatles!”… but for Ron’s accident. Perhaps she couldn't get an icon the same size, or larger? I have an (obsessive) distaste for the Union Flag, as it competely disregards my country. The juxtapositioning of the flags on her page in this way is irritiating. A minor point perhaps, but does not endear me to Ms Willott or the LibDems. As for their policies, well, who cares? The farce which followed the coalition talks in 2005 has destroyed any credibility they have, as far as I'm concerned.Gordon Brown's recent 'Britishness' drive involved ordering (central) government buildings in Wales to fly the union flag in precedence to the Welsh flag, even before the consultation period he instituted had ended. As a consequence, Jack Straw instructed prisons in Wales to take down the Welsh flag and replace it with the union flag. After a number of complaints to the prison service, this has been remedied.Perhaps Ms Willott might see that our flag gets more respect on her webpage.I must admit that I had never heard of her until reading this topic. As for gloves, best keep them on (and everything else too, candidates included, please). This usually backfires in the 'full glare of publicity'-or not if you live in the real world.
