Especially when the Afrikaner reference is desiged to be as insulting as the converted term 'fenian'. Are Sinn Fein not really the BNP equivalent or is that too also utter insult and inflammatory? If so, I should get into NI politics, though I'm not sure I'm quite biggoted enough to manage it just yet, give me time...I think that the depolaristion of politics in northern ireland has started and not overdue. Once each side has played for petty points the community in the North of Ireland, Ulster, will certainly be sick to death of forced politics based on the propogation of fear and traditional nostalgic stalemate.Till we ignore Adams and he retires and curls up beside his best friend and partner in crime (ian!) this sort of nonsense will still make the press and take us away from the main goal of tackling real issues with actual importance without greater political weight than they carry. Especially white South Africans!! Or is this another one for brushing under the carpet, as was the case in respect of the McCartney, Donaldson and Quinn murders?SusieCarryduff Fri 14 Nov 2008 09:09:06 GMT+1 billy_carryduff http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/markdevenport/2008/11/adams_and_the_afrikaners.html?page=4#comment2 there is clearly something very broken with unionism as a political force. it's all very well for supporters of unionism to fire insults at adams but the fact remains that outside this small place, in the wider world, his words ring true. the forced coalition and the assembly itself is becoming a machine to generate rope for unionists to hang themselves with. we have had 'die groot krokodil' maybe what we all need now is a F W de Klerk. My views on Adams? That he represents the Milosevic/Karadzic wing of nationalism. The man is a compulsive liar. Right enough, if my past was as bloody and shameful as his, I might want to cover it up.
