Followed some of the comments a while back - amazed that people could be so negative about the Academy. A thought about standards though: I think, generally, the continuing drama and all the rest are pretty good at BBC, but, and I can never be bothered to leave comments about this and that usually, just wondered what people thought about All the Small Things? Hate to be grumpy but I thought it was beyond bad...I mean off the scale...truly awful. I didn't believe a word of it, knew exactly what was going to happen next...I could go on and on, really...I don't often get angry about tv programmes - there are more important things in the world - but to spend what was clearly quite a lot of money on such terrible tosh was really insulting. How on earth does something like that get made? Who on earth thinks that is a good use of the licence fee? It didn't work on any level. Please, no more this. If Writersroom/Academy are going to make a real difference, they've got to fight from the inside to stop such rubbish being produced.There. I feel lighter now. I guess not everything can be great, but this was so very very bad, whoever was involved in it should be hiding their surely shamed faces for a long time.
