I think I came up with- ten thousand spoons, when all you need is a knife - in the canteen of a knife factory;- Mr Play-it-safe dying in a plane crash on his way to give a lecture on the advances in safety of modern aeronautical engineering;- The official carrying the pardon to the condemned killer on death row himself being murdered en routeFor the lottery, how about having the winning ticket, but not being able to afford the bus journey to claim your winnings? In a story or film it should mean that the audience know something a character doesn't. In normal life it seems to be a word flexible in meaning. Sat 13 Feb 2010 18:23:27 GMT+1 thranjax http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=64#comment18 I think ironic would be if you didn't know you had won the lottery, you had to go to the bank to beg for a loan and then got shot in a bungled bank job, and your winning the lottery only became known after the event. Sat 13 Feb 2010 17:48:02 GMT+1 thranjax http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=57#comment16 None of the things in that song we are quoting are ironic, that is probably the point of course. Alanis is clearly a meta pop singer. Irony in my opinion would be something like: Being late to an award for punctuality or in an adaption I found of Spirit's - Meeting the man of your dreams only to meet his beautiful wife who happens to be trying to find you a perfect man. Sat 13 Feb 2010 17:24:22 GMT+1 jonesybcfc http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=49#comment14 no i think thats bad luck again spirit.how about having a deep prejudice for disney-produced singers so much that you condemn them and any word they do speak to everyone you know, and then someone makes you listen to this and you like it. is that not irony?(thats not me by the way, i was just trying to think of an ironic situation to do with the song) Sat 13 Feb 2010 16:01:09 GMT+1 ammie2711 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=46#comment13 I understand the words :)I love this songIt's is a corker :) Demi is a very talented songwriter.5 stars :) Sat 13 Feb 2010 15:02:44 GMT+1 spirit http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=42#comment12 what about meeting the man of your dreams but then meeting his beautiful wife ? I just thought that was bad luck.Surely irony would be something like escaping from a burning building only to be hit by a speeding car outside. Sat 13 Feb 2010 12:35:56 GMT+1 thranjax http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=24#comment7 Ah! Irony! Now I understand, like rain on your wedding day... I´m trying here, okay? The verses are very, very promising. You kinda expect a massive and memorable chorus, but then you end up with something predictable and it´s... not going anywhere really. She´s got the attitude, she acts like she was born to do this, she can sing (...ish) but still... tune, hello, where are you? But maybe it´s a grower? A future classic? Or maybe not. Fri 12 Feb 2010 09:02:59 GMT+1 RandomEnigma http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=7#comment2 What Demi needs to do is ditch Disney, find herself a guitarist, bassist and drummer and become an alternative pop rock band like Paramore, Evanescence or No Doubt.I mean this song is really good. All those electronic backed verses...and her breathy vocals. She's really talented. Of course, I'm a sucker for wannabe girl rockers! Thu 11 Feb 2010 19:20:13 GMT+1 harrythedog10 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=3#comment1 Personally I want to give this one star just because by principle I hate it, in the same I hate everything by Disney. Nevertheless it's actually okay, 3 stars in my opinion. Thu 11 Feb 2010 18:59:23 GMT+1 Oliviaaa987 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chartblog/2010/02/demi_lovato_remember_december.shtml?page=0#comment0 Hahaha, I feel so dirty when I listen to this song, and as a 16 year old girl, not in THAT way. Despite being pretty much part of the target audience for this song, I just know I shouldn't like it or anything else disney affiliated, what with Rock Snob peer pressure and all that. Heck, I'd be the first to say the majority of it is a pile of crap (I may have been a bit of a McFly/Busted fangirl back in the day but the lyrics make all the difference: I highly doubt you'd find the Jonas Brothers singing about a Sauna foursome). So, it pains me to say I have listened to this a few times on youtube.....But hey, the Rock Snobs need never know ;) Thu 11 Feb 2010 16:21:19 GMT+1
