Fri 04 Feb 2011 11:43:21 GMT+1 dirtydonki What a twit. Thu 03 Feb 2011 14:41:52 GMT+1 ramarena He forgot to mention derby have sold hulse and commons and not replaced either.i think when the lads found out commons was going they gave up mentally. Wed 02 Feb 2011 22:46:38 GMT+1 Enfieldcherry Ok - of course there's no need for a written blog but how about timings for each section? EG - I dont want to hear about clarke Carlse but I do want to hear about Bradbury - probably to disagree. Wed 02 Feb 2011 13:05:45 GMT+1 iranu indeed Yet another pointless blog from Stevo. I can look at the league table and results to see that Forest are doing well and Derby aren't. To suggest there is something 'intrinsically' wrong at leaky Stockport may be correct but what do you think that might be our Head of Insight?I was however delighted that he did bring his dictionary with him this week - bereft, exuberant, intrinsic (more than once!), echelons and vaunted - I think you'll find that is worthy of a Question Time call up. Although when commenting on Clarke Carlisle he did say he thought 'he came acwoss quite well'. Unlike your pointless blog. One other thought Stevo - if you were to rehearse your blog a couple of times you might save us all a lot of time.Keep up the good work. Tue 01 Feb 2011 22:35:57 GMT+1 Ian Ski It's a video blog, what the problem? If you want to read something, go elsewhere. The BBC cannot be expected to stop it's multi media output just because some people can't watch the video or would prefer to read.Should i complain about the text based content and demand a video or audio version? Tue 01 Feb 2011 10:46:27 GMT+1 dave Very hard to react to the Claridge blog without using language and making highly offensive statements so let me simply say that, in my opinion, he is severely lacking in his ability to analyse football and draw any sensible conclusions. This is probably a reflection of his extremely mediocre playing career and even less glorious management career. If the aim is to reflect the view of the man on the Clapham omnibus then fair enough...but only if the man on the bus is the village idiot. Why on earth the BBC bothers employing someone with such little insight and ability is an ongoing mystery to all of us. Mon 31 Jan 2011 23:05:53 GMT+1 wos i was being sarcastic! Sat 29 Jan 2011 18:54:50 GMT+1 GordonT Well some of us work abroad and cannot watch the video so it can be a little frustrating as I'm working out the country over 9 months of the year, and how about the for folks with hearing impermanent. I cannot see why the BBC do not offer a fee base service for this , even though I pay my license I cannot get most 98% of video while abroad I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee or tie my access to my tv license details. Just like I can access Virgin content abroad etc..This is all easy to do technically and please don't spout copyright as an excuse this does not come into play for news story's ( only for live games etc )Any As much as I like young Clough he's not a scratch on his Dad and his days are numbered at Derby (IMHO) and he does not have a Peter Taylor, thats what made Clough great it was his partnership with taylor Sat 29 Jan 2011 18:17:54 GMT+1 searlesram I've not really got anything against Steve Claridge as a pundit but what he's saying on this is absolute nonsense.No-one at Derby is expecting them to win every game. Yes, they were playing well and winning games when the were up in 4th but the point is they are not losing games because of raised expectation, as Steve suggests. The point is they are losing games because they are playing badly! They've won 1 game out of 10 - that is relegation form. Yes, the fans want to see Derby win, but no-one expected us at the start of the season to contend for the play-offs and no fellow Derby fans really expect us to challenge for them now. What we do want is to stop the rot and avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle. Sat 29 Jan 2011 17:34:10 GMT+1 wos love steves comments wow what insight this man has Sat 29 Jan 2011 16:23:24 GMT+1 wos This post has been Removed Sat 29 Jan 2011 15:55:47 GMT+1 canadared I have just watched the 'International Version'. I hope the UK one is more incisive (I wonder what it is I'm not allowed to hear here in Canada?) becuase I learnt nothing about Forest and Derby other than Forest are doing well and Derby were doing well but now aren't. Happy as I am to hear that, its not news to me not does it give me any special insight into it. A waste of time. Sat 29 Jan 2011 13:50:26 GMT+1 Ben This post has been Removed Sat 29 Jan 2011 13:15:18 GMT+1 Shep First time I actually bothered to watch this blog because I would prefer a written blog and being a Forest fan thought I would give it a watch. What a load of rubbish!Wasn't quite expecting such a poor standard but #20 summed it up quite well. I was expecting at least some analysis, but I suppose your droll commentary of our recent form will have to suffice. So Steve I ask you: Would you maybe consider that we have possible hit our best form of the season slightly too early and that we may fade away towards the end of the season like we did last year??? Sat 29 Jan 2011 12:26:56 GMT+1 clarkster #35 fair point. maybe he could take a pay cut and replace lawro or hansen on motd. (wishfull thinking) Sat 29 Jan 2011 10:53:24 GMT+1 U14767691 This post has been Removed Sat 29 Jan 2011 10:10:29 GMT+1 Lemko Miron BBC - Please note the number of positive comments! Sat 29 Jan 2011 10:03:42 GMT+1 Canariez #25 Andy Gray was on 1.7 Million £ a Year for SkySports, you think BBC will pay par with that when they can't even afford to run the 606 discussion board? Sat 29 Jan 2011 01:23:01 GMT+1 Hoopdriver This post has been Removed Fri 28 Jan 2011 19:13:26 GMT+1 backinwhite #20A little harsh but true! It's a shame Steve can't use all of his contacts in Football to get some INSIGHT into the FL, rather than just commenting on what we all know anyway. Fri 28 Jan 2011 17:44:00 GMT+1 duffy-superwhites written blog please? Fri 28 Jan 2011 13:47:22 GMT+1 Michael Hall Steve I was just wondering. Do Qpr have twins playing for them. Adel Taarabt and his brother ABDUL Taarabt ?????? Fri 28 Jan 2011 05:35:59 GMT+1 Feel MaDullTie Please BBC listen to the people who pay your wages....the license payers....We don't want video blogs. We don't want Steve Claridge. Or Garth Crooks. We wouldn't mind Leroy Rosenior or maybe a guest blogger (rotate the pundits) but Claridge has managed to pick up zero knowledge despite playing for EVERY team in Britian at some point of his career.Instead of having a blog why not just post a pic of Claridge and have every guess what we think he would have said had there been a blog there in the first place? Fri 28 Jan 2011 01:19:34 GMT+1 garythenotrashcougar Why are you talking about Derby again Steve? Why are you so obsessed with them? You were drooling over them when they going well before December, now you're dissecting after two wins in 11 and an FA Cup exit to Crawley. Change the record. Thu 27 Jan 2011 21:42:43 GMT+1 grayman1 Not a fan of Claridge - drivel to go with his high pitched, excitable anodyne comments on the radio. Come on BBC - let's get some interesting pundits Thu 27 Jan 2011 21:21:59 GMT+1 ComeEnglandAway Is there any chance of having the blog written, as opposed on video??Not keen on the latter. Thu 27 Jan 2011 20:06:57 GMT+1 49 and thats a wrap I call it the YouTube syndrome. Put a 5-minute video up, which takes, as you can probably guess, five mins to watch, but the whole thing can be summarized in a paragraph or two that takes no more than a minute to read. Think about how much time is wasted by all the viewers combined.Of course, sometimes the visuals are indispensable, but rarely is that the case. Especially in sports, unless it's a highlight or tutorial. Thu 27 Jan 2011 16:57:57 GMT+1 clarkster why dont bbc sign andy gray. id rather listen to his views (minus the sexism). id rather listen to him than this clown Thu 27 Jan 2011 16:47:32 GMT+1 russellsnr Hi,As an expat I enjoy the chance to hear about the lower leauges but PLEASE as a Brighton supporter can you ask the BBC and Sky to stop saying when a player from an opposing team gets sent of playing against Brighton and we are already 2-0 up (Last Tuesday & previously)that we beat 10 men so and so, WE DIDN'T they had eleven on the pitch at the time we where 2-0 up!!!!ThanksRuss Thu 27 Jan 2011 16:28:53 GMT+1 yorkiebarkid I feel like something inside me has died forever, that's 7 minutes of my life i'll never be able to get back Thu 27 Jan 2011 15:50:49 GMT+1 lacplesis37 Though I preferred the written blog, even I can find the little > to start the video blog. I suspect that most of those who dislike this are also people who rarely use indicators when driving.I also think that Steve's comments come from a deep knowledge of the game but without using the over the top hyped-up manner that implies we are all so thick & bored our interest can only be gained by behaving like a manic "yoof TV" presenter. If you actually listen what he has to say about Derby, it sums up exactly what's gone wrong for them in the last couple of months. Just seeing Savage hurling his boots down when substituted tells you as much about the spirit in the Derby camp as any words. Thu 27 Jan 2011 14:44:17 GMT+1 Vox Populi For the benefit of those who can't enjoy Steve Claridge's wit and wisdom in the video, here is a transcript that I have created for your benefit. Q: Steve, Why did Team A lose?Claridge: "They weren't set up properly" Q: What do Team B need to do to improve?Claridge: "They need to get themselves set up properly" Q: How did your managerial career go Steve?"Not well."Thanks Steve. Thu 27 Jan 2011 14:03:05 GMT+1 Public_service500 It seems that lots of you can’t access video and want a written summary, so for all you good people I signed in especially to provide you with an executive summary. I never miss the blog. Its hilarious. • Steve is wearing a vomit coloured shirt that camouflages him against the wall, but its definitely him and he says the following …• Derby aren’t very good. They are near the bottom of the table. This is bad.• Forest are quite good and are near the top. This is good. • Dale Jennings is good. • Stockport aren’t. They lose all the time. • Bournemouth shouldn’t change things around. And they can’t change things around. But they will have to one day. • Clark Carlisle did alright on question time. He’s ‘reasonably intelligent’, but he plays like he’s Trigger from only fools and horses. Take it all in. Thu 27 Jan 2011 14:01:41 GMT+1 the_fantastic_alistair This post has been Removed Thu 27 Jan 2011 13:56:37 GMT+1 redinreading Steve Claridge is a third rate summarizer and fifth rate presenter. He may know a lot about football but he plainly struggles to communicate this knowledge to the viewing or reading public. I cannot understand why the BBC persevere with him. Surely there are more articulate and amusing ex-footballers around who would do a far better job. Even Robbie Savage falls into one of those categories! Thu 27 Jan 2011 13:27:41 GMT+1 leftbackviews Even the video blog is starting to contain less and less content each week it seems. Have a look at my latest Championship blog article looking at Sven at Leicester. Thu 27 Jan 2011 13:16:55 GMT+1 U11966120 up and coming/ ever growing sports forum Thu 27 Jan 2011 13:09:34 GMT+1 bakes8 #6 I know who Adel Taarabt is, im a Qpr Season Ticket holder.Mr Claridge kept calling him Abdul on the FL show all season.Uneducated, know nothing buffoon that he is. Thu 27 Jan 2011 13:01:21 GMT+1 Andyspur37 @ #4 Yes, quite an interesting article Relegationbattle, especially as the last man to be mentioned was the man who writes (speaks) this blog ! Thu 27 Jan 2011 13:00:48 GMT+1 Andyspur37 This is the first time I have visted this blog and like a lot of you (it seems)I would prefer a written blog. Having said that, I am kind glad it isn't as what he says must be either very dull or uninteresting given that of the 12 comments so far, only one is about the content of the blog !Methinks the BBC have misjudged this one ! Thu 27 Jan 2011 12:55:40 GMT+1 dave I note that at least one of my (and others) previous comments was taken on board, as we now have a special version of the blog for us international viewers. Thanks for that but I would be very interested if a UK viewer could watch both blogs and let us know the differences and what things us expats shoud not be told! Thu 27 Jan 2011 12:49:57 GMT+1 pdome Steve,Another drainingly dull football league insight from a man who should have more knowledge of football than he actually does......Please replace this man who brings NOTHING to your football league coverage! Thu 27 Jan 2011 12:36:31 GMT+1 Jobyfox_BBC606 is dead_long live JA606 I agree with Mike Fagan. It might be pathetic to some to complain every week about not having this blog in text format, but the point is that many people just seem to be being ignored. We're all here for a bit of opinion and news about football and many of us use these pages as a short distraction whilst at work. It is not preferable or practical to be sat watching a video for many in these circumstances. If it was a vocal minority, fine, but there is comment after comment of people expressing the same opinion. Rather than being pathetic it might be a consquence of the frustration felt by the majority of licence fee payers who view these blogs. Thu 27 Jan 2011 12:18:45 GMT+1 Chief_Mason @8 perhaps we should record our wishes of a written blog in video form. That way they may take note of our requests? Thu 27 Jan 2011 12:17:18 GMT+1 Mike Fagan #3It wasn't always called "Steve Claridge's VIDEO blog", it wasnt too long ago this was a written blog.If the majority of people are asking for a written blog then surely they should be listened to, given they are the audience. I personally don't think it would take too long to have the blog as a written one with a video extra for the people that have the facility to use it whilst at work etc...As they say, give the people what they want! Thu 27 Jan 2011 11:35:19 GMT+1 diddyt01 Why cant I upload a video of my response??! It Steve can't be bothered to type then neither can I. Thu 27 Jan 2011 11:32:44 GMT+1 ThePaniniBandit #1It's Adel. Thu 27 Jan 2011 11:10:45 GMT+1 Jesus the Teddy Bear Its the first time I have come to this blog, I could watch it fine if I wanted too, but I like to read, too many websites (not just the BBC) are using video far too much online. Thu 27 Jan 2011 11:10:32 GMT+1 relegationbattle Calling for the manager to be sacked is always the first thing fans do in a bad run but sacking the manager is not always the best thing to do, look at this article Thu 27 Jan 2011 11:09:48 GMT+1 Storm of Swords You know it's actually pathetic how people write on here week after week moaning about the fact that this blog is in the form of video rather than text just for the sake of abusing Steve. The clue is in the title "Steve Claridge's VIDEO blog". Grow up and get a life the lot of you, if you can't see the video at work, watch it at home and stop complaining like a broken record. Thu 27 Jan 2011 10:42:05 GMT+1 Jesus the Teddy Bear Guess what, not all of us want to watch a video. How about typing it up for those of us who actually enjoy a good read ? Thu 27 Jan 2011 10:37:57 GMT+1 bakes8 How's Abdul Taarabt getting on Steve? Thu 27 Jan 2011 10:13:01 GMT+1
