Comments for en-gb 30 Sat 31 Jan 2015 07:43:05 GMT+1 A feed of user comments from the page found at murtdawg Fair play to Steve - on Sunday he did that very rare thing as a football pundit - he actually said something that was really interesting. When discussing Grant Holt he said he always got to the ball first and that was something strikers should work on because if they could anticipate where the ball was going this would make up for a lack of pace. I'd never thought of this before. I'm guessing as Steve never had real pace he was speaking from experience. Are there any strikers in the football league who have pace but no real sense of anticipating where the ball is going? How do you coach anticipation to up and coming strikers? Tue 30 Nov 2010 08:45:55 GMT+1 badders This board is a joke - Not able to express an opinion without it being removed for no good reason..Who is the mod? Steve Claridge? Even though you pay their wages? Are you insane? LOL!!I've made myself clear on this terrible piece of "Jobs for the Boys" before, and it won't change. The standard of punditry is at an all time low, and yet instead of having a healthy and reasonable discussion on it, all comments will be removed.Back to the OP......Come on u R'sssssssssssss!!!! Sat 27 Nov 2010 11:22:12 GMT+1 Strawberry Avenger haha, the old bbc removing my comments. Despite the fact that I'm paying Claridge's wages and paying for this rubbish punditry, you're saying I'm not allowed to voice my opinion on it? Sat 27 Nov 2010 10:44:10 GMT+1 Im made out of bits of real panther #19 - So many rubbish points, where do we start? 'To be fair, all Steves points are valid' - Yes, that's why loads of people disagree with his point of view.'I do believe its Claridges job. Not yours, he is obviously good at it, if you think you can do better I advise you not listen to what he has to say and start your own Football League show... yeah? - Sure, where can we sign up?! Any fan would love this job. If us mortals did such a poor job in our chosen work place, we'd have been asked to get our coats ages ago. The BBC does seem to be able to inexplicably find jobs for claridge. He's not 'obviously good at it' or people wouldn't be saying the exact opposite! Fri 26 Nov 2010 18:05:21 GMT+1 spindal Please tell Steve that its Adel not Abdul Taarabt surely he can get a name correct Fri 26 Nov 2010 17:41:32 GMT+1 KirkstallOwl @ #5 - monkeyphoenixI did spend more time writing than listening, a much better use of my time. Of course I know that League 1 and 2 used to be under a different name, but as the football league expert you'd expect Claridge to know that they've changed.Besides, if we are being picky, they were called Division 2 and 3, not 1 and 2. Fri 26 Nov 2010 15:32:23 GMT+1 cherrychris Good post on the cherries. We have been given such a kick by the FL over the past few years and yet again are under an embargo because of something that happened before 2009 and under the old owners. But we still keep fighting. Brett Pitman went, now Josh McQuoid gone but in Ed we trust and Eddie will unearth another gem.So many injuries also but we're still 3rd.Manager of the year (please dont give him manager of the month, we know what happens when thats received!!) Fri 26 Nov 2010 15:14:35 GMT+1 the_fantastic_alistair @BoroboyjoeI've heard some rumours about Tarmo Kink that he will shoot from ANYWHERE on the pitch, including inside his own half!! Is this true?! Fri 26 Nov 2010 14:40:49 GMT+1 rickalista An alternative view on the games. Fri 26 Nov 2010 14:03:55 GMT+1 Ben Donnelly I think Steve Claridge was trying to say that when Rangers aren't in Possession, Taarabt won't win it back. So what? Neither will Paddy Kenny. And Shaun Derry won't score wondergoals. Then again, every team's got a player who's great when his team's in possession but not much of a ball-winner. It's a pointless comment to make, and I think he was just looking for a way to say that Taarabt has weaknesses to his game. The truth is, that that's not a weakness, that's just specialising and all players do it. Taarabt has proven his worth to the team after all. You could make the same comments about Bellamy or Sinclair or Grant Holt, after all and they wouldn't be criticisms of them either. Fri 26 Nov 2010 13:49:13 GMT+1 bakes8 Who the hell is Abdul Taarabt??Please get ur names right Steve... its Adel. Fri 26 Nov 2010 13:15:45 GMT+1 Superhoopmango Dear Steve....What a load of tosh!Abdel Taarabt is it? I think a bit of research would've pulled up ADEL Taarabt instead???As for giving you nothing when he's not on the ball? I was at the Ipswich game, where his movement OFF THE BALL was a key part of the build up to the first goal. He made the space for the pass to Mackie. And you wonder why people are so dismissive of your abilities on here? That's why! Poorly researched, as ever. Fri 26 Nov 2010 13:07:55 GMT+1 peterborofox Hi Steve,Do you think Leicester have it in them for another play-off finish this season? Sven has brought some big name loan signings in such as Chris Kirkland, Curtis Davies and Kyle Naughton, and I think we have a real chance of quickly climbing the table. Fri 26 Nov 2010 11:54:50 GMT+1 Boroboyjoe Dear Steve,Firstly, I must congratulate you immensely on your recent performances, they have improved significantly and you are fast securing yourself as a legend with both me and my good friend Tom.Now, we were both discussing the return of Marvin Emnes to Middlesbrough the other day. We both think that it will bring good things for the mighty Boro, that his return will trigger a further improvement in results and a climb up the table. His pace will cause many problems for Championship defences. As we only have one natural winger in Tarmo Kink, I think that the return of Emnes will be a massive boost to fans and players alike. What do you think of his return to Middlesbrough? Do you think that Tony Mowbray will give him a fair chance, unlike Gordon Strachan? Your views are truly appreciated, as this is an issue that matters to not only us, but you too. Many thanksJoe Wells and Tom BaxterPS, I am becoming extremely aggitated and disappointed at the fact that this is the third time I have had to post my comment... This is a question that I really care about, as should you too. Also, hamstrung is now my favourite word! Waffling on for about two minutes without giving a straight answer! Still, you're better than that Gareth Crooks - he's a right smug get. Finally, nice window's peak!!!Up the Gills!Bye bye!!!Sir Steve Fri 26 Nov 2010 11:25:00 GMT+1 deltrasoph This video blog is a good idea but poor old Steve Claridge needs a script to stop him coming across as incoherent. Maybe even someone else sat next to him to 'bounce off'.At least he's better than Lizzie.......For what it's worth Steve, my predo: QPR 1-0 Cardiff Fri 26 Nov 2010 09:57:37 GMT+1 monkeyphoenix shut up Gully Ranger you mug. Worst poster on the page. And KirkstallOwl, wow, you spent more time typing your post than listening then. Do you know Division 1 and 2 is what they used to be called, before the league sold out to corporate renames? I think we all know what Steve was talking about. So many useless posters on the BBC. Fri 26 Nov 2010 09:50:21 GMT+1 KirkstallOwl I turned this off as soon as I heard "Division 1 and 2" come out of the mouth of 'The BBC's Football League expert'.
