Mind you, you think pumpkins come from a Peanuts comic strip (Linus, "I didn't know we were going to kill it!"). I can not return to my birth place because bankers have bought up all the small houses and extended them beyond a locals ability to buy. Lancaster has just compulsory purchased out a great area of businesses only for the builder to pull out. Same for the Olympic sites. Or the farms and villages lost when we flooded the reservoir valleys.I feel for them as a displaced people but the whole world is being displaced by the need for strategic development. They are just one symptom of the greed.I nearly got to visit their islands and abide by the strict rules imposed to protect their destruction. I have also visited many atolls that have been destroyed by over population. The islands had been over cultivated with plantations. They also had plans to provide for a future with tourism. After seeing a tourism atoll and a real atoll there is no comparison. In the end I think that as a protected area, it might be the last coral left in the world. (Not even a British air base for crying out loud!)This is utterly shameful. My son said "Look, there's the Tardis again".Dreams, eh? Wed 22 Oct 2008 11:03:42 GMT+1
