It had thawed slightly earlier. So the trees were festooned with 6 to 9 inches of dendritic frost. The cold had captured ice crystals on the wire fence on either side of the road. As we drove along and the headlights picked it up, the fences sparkled their whole length like Christmas lights flashingEarlier in the day we'd seen those wonderful sheep, pawing the ground to clear the snow or nosing it back inch by inch. That grass just has to be eaten! On the window sills back and front of our top storey flat, we're getting white doves calling as well as pigeons and crows. The doves look inquisitively through the window panes at us, eat delicately, bill and coo a little and occassionally squabble when the sill just 'aint big enough for both of' them. The pigeons are there strictly to eat. They don't look at us but scat at the first sound they hear from us.The crows swoop in on a awallow dive, somehow getting food in beak, then on their way without, I swear, claw having touched sill Merry Christmas y'all!
