Sat 08 May 2010 17:30:40 GMT+1 Bob Jay The Radio4 election coverage report - thanks for a big laugh and for putting the tv 'space station'in perspective. I may well listen!!! (Except i won't be able to enjoy the Portillo moment as I did in '97.)I sat and chortled. thanks again. Thu 06 May 2010 17:09:23 GMT+1 Big Sister Bloofs, the news room will be staying in London ... Thu 06 May 2010 17:04:18 GMT+1 Bloofs "It's been a long campaign. Carolyn in particular has been working bizarre hours, criss-crossing the country - in fact she's in Leeds for tonight's programme."-So the move to Manchester would certainly help, then, eh? Thu 06 May 2010 17:01:59 GMT+1 Big Sister Pat - Wouldn't Lucozade be a better drink for the LibDems? Then you could use the whisky for the SNP. Water would be good for Wales - finest in the land ;o) - oh, and then you could have a Scottish Welsh toast, too! Thu 06 May 2010 15:15:35 GMT+1 funnyJoedunn Yea, fer real dudes! Thu 06 May 2010 15:10:55 GMT+1 patmartin We're thinking of adapting the Eurovision Party, you know the one where you have a drink from each of the countries when they get points on the board, and having an Election Party. A glass of port when Labour wins a seat, Blue Bols when the Tories win one and a pale single malt for the Lib/Dems. But we're not sure about the Scots and Welsh Nationalists. One neighbour has suggested Green Chartreuse for the Welsh and Bucky for the Scots but that seems a little offensive. Any ideas? These drinks only apply when a seat is WON not just held. We've got cheap plnk for the rest.Fortunately none of us has to work tomorrow Thu 06 May 2010 14:44:04 GMT+1 newlach There have been concerns about broadcasting on Radio 4 for some time! When talking about the table I was reminded of David Steel being interviewed many years ago by, I think, Andrew Rawnsley. The topic of "spin" in politics had been discussed followed by the cost of the Scottish Parliament. The interviewer then asked: "Why is it that the desk in the main entrance to the Parliament building cost more than the price of the average house in Glasgow?" "Oh, it's not a desk, it's a work station!" Thu 06 May 2010 12:10:54 GMT+1 jonnie Another outlet for this classic clip on Youtube: Wed 05 May 2010 23:55:06 GMT+1 Patrick Too Having just seen the TV producer swank around his posh set this is wonderful - the antidote to political TV's pomposity! Bless you. Wed 05 May 2010 23:32:24 GMT+1 Stewart_M Who needs radio 4 comedy programmes! Wed 05 May 2010 19:02:09 GMT+1 Ellis P Otter Thank you so much for this little glimpse into PM. Laughter is certainly the best medicine.Just imagine what must be going in the backrooms of the job applicants as they await judgement ... and we'll still be in the same mire on Friday whoever wins the jobs, all 646 of them. Now that is funny! Wed 05 May 2010 18:46:39 GMT+1 MEB Wonderful, Eddie & Carolyn. You gave me a fit of the giggles and I choked on my coffee. Please keep them coming. Wed 05 May 2010 17:11:18 GMT+1 townmouse Baroness Prosser asks what's happened to Gordon Brown during the past two and a half years - why had he not been speaking with passion and clarity as he did this week to the rally of the Labour faithful? Because he's been well and truly spun, that's why, by his so-called advisers. And he's mislaid his much-vaunted moral compass. I heard him banging on about Labour's glowing record on gay rights this week. So why has he absented himself from virtually every vote on the subject in the Commons? Because he's uneasy with the subject, that's why.Today he urges us, in his final message, to vote not just for him, but for ourselves! Oh yes- that's a really socialist message isn't it? Let's vote out of pure self-interest. Ugh! I'm a lifelong Labour supporter - but never, ever again after 13 years of this morally bankrupt gang of incompetents. Wed 05 May 2010 17:10:23 GMT+1 The Stainless Steel Cat Another classic from Eddie "Parma Ham" Mair...How does he do it? Goggly eyes and deelly-boppers? A feather duster? Wed 05 May 2010 16:31:21 GMT+1 Mindclearly JIm does Gold Girls then?! Loved it and my seven year old too who found the infectious laughing funniest bit. Wed 05 May 2010 15:40:39 GMT+1 Post Meridiem I haven't laughed so much since Brian Johnston saw someone "sitting on a shooting stick" (or something like that). Wed 05 May 2010 15:15:19 GMT+1 Cash Hughes 6. rupertthebear"I have cancelled the overnight hospitality tray. "No! Anything but that!Even the Briar Patch!, but not the (peanuts) tray! Wed 05 May 2010 13:07:32 GMT+1 crushtot Thanks for sharing the Fun!Lifted my mood considerably :-)So glad to see you two don't take yourselves too seriously, unlike the Beeb in general which is becoming ridiculously over-cautious.If only there could be more of this during dull election campaigns. Wed 05 May 2010 12:17:32 GMT+1 Carl Goss Re 3 Big Sister.Didn't you mean ' a few LESS bottles of wine are called for'?!Punch drunk we should call it, after this amazing election campaign. The failing satellite phone links the other night were hysterical! Very funny. We're lucky indeed to have you two broadcasting to us. I vote Eddie and Carolyn for PM! Wed 05 May 2010 12:02:24 GMT+1 JTL I laughed as much as I did at the famous Test Match Special 'legover' hilarity. It's the silent bits that are just as side-splitting as the talky bits. You couldn't write a script like this! Wed 05 May 2010 12:01:18 GMT+1 bbone The best election broadcast to date - thanks Eddie & Carolyn. Wed 05 May 2010 11:53:40 GMT+1 Big Sister Rupert! How lovely to see you here! Last seen wearing Tutankahmun's head-dress, I believe? ;o)But, you can't cancel the tray. After all, Jim and Sequin will need to be kept awake somehow, otherwise they'll drift off over the second series of Golden Girls. Wed 05 May 2010 11:48:12 GMT+1 Sid Talk us through, if you would ... hehehehehe!!! Wed 05 May 2010 11:46:44 GMT+1 Carl Goss I'm going to play a game on Election Night. Count the MP's that call Carolyn.. 'Caroline'Great piece of audio.. just part of why we love you both. The TV studio is RIDICULOUS! I saw it on the 10 o clock news last night, Hugh looked completetly lost behind that desk! Mind you, it'll keep the cameramen fit. Wed 05 May 2010 11:45:55 GMT+1 racheinderbys And _that_ is why I will be tucked up in bed listening to the radio (and keeping score on the computer) rather than sitting up in a cold sitting room watching the lurid graphics. Wed 05 May 2010 11:44:43 GMT+1 rupertthebear They are all amateurs! I tell you, amateurs! I have cancelled the overnight hospitality tray. Wed 05 May 2010 11:44:01 GMT+1 Stephen - Leader of STROP Please edit out the dull bits. I think we'll be grateful for fits of the giggles from two "professional" journalists! Wed 05 May 2010 11:41:43 GMT+1 Timothy Hilgenberg genius! It had me laughing out loud... perhaps if this was really how politics was done you'd have more people interested :-) Wed 05 May 2010 11:39:55 GMT+1 Big Sister What a classic! I think a few bottles of wine are called for ...'Golden Girls', eh? :oD Wed 05 May 2010 11:36:33 GMT+1 GiulioNapolitani Photos, please. Thank you.
