Sat 23 Jan 2010 10:07:53 GMT+1 Big Sister David, I will do as you ask. Can Looter put them somewhere private, with your agreement? Fri 22 Jan 2010 17:54:48 GMT+1 davmcn BS 317, Ask AP to send you the photo of me that I sent her. Fri 22 Jan 2010 16:51:47 GMT+1 davmcn BS 317, For my own protection, Looter can't put the photos anywhere unless I say he can. Fri 22 Jan 2010 16:50:19 GMT+1 Big Sister 314: We (well, I) are (am) agog to see these photos. Will have to see how Looternite can smuggle them to us without making them too public. Perhaps your Facebook friend could help? ;o) Fri 22 Jan 2010 12:39:11 GMT+1 ValeryP Oh dav - you're such a tease ;o) Fri 22 Jan 2010 12:31:13 GMT+1 davmcn LS 305, Photos available from Looter. Fri 22 Jan 2010 12:17:12 GMT+1 davmcn FO 306, At least Keith Flett has a beard.BS 299, 300, Yes, he brought a camera (Brownie box), and had two photos taken. One taken by a nurse of us shaking hands, and the other taken of me by Looter. Fully clothed, however. Both of us.Yes, his haircut looked new, and expensive. His watch looked quite pricey too, considering his loony lefty leanings. I think the clothes were Oxfam. Although he got to the hospital by bus, he said that he does have car. Probably a BMW or Mercedes. Fri 22 Jan 2010 12:15:42 GMT+1 lucien desgai What about Woodpecker (tree)-trunks? Thu 21 Jan 2010 23:31:43 GMT+1 Stewart_M SId, Prefer the speedos to the Budgie Smugglers Thu 21 Jan 2010 23:24:48 GMT+1 lucien desgai sweet dreams Fifi!:o) Thu 21 Jan 2010 23:14:27 GMT+1 Lady_Sue Did anyone see Cossackgirl around here anywhere? She's posted on a different thread this evening. Yoooo Hooooo.... Cossackgirl! Come and join the fun on the beach! Thu 21 Jan 2010 23:11:04 GMT+1 Fifi Phew, Lucien, that's a relief! Can safely crawl off to bed now, without fear of bad dreams...* crawls fearlessly off to bed * Thu 21 Jan 2010 23:06:52 GMT+1 lucien desgai It's not a wrinkly lady, it's a dav art installation. Thu 21 Jan 2010 23:04:58 GMT+1 Fifi * emerges sleepily from a hammock far, far away *Have I missed much? RL has been far too demanding of late, and looks like being the more so over the next week or two. Good in some ways, less so in others. I'm concentrating on the 'some ways', obviously! ;o)Who is that wrinkly lady out in the bay? It's hard to see clearly in the dark but it looks as if she's been swimming far too long... Thu 21 Jan 2010 21:53:06 GMT+1 needsanewnickname I get muddled between Kathy Lette and Kathryn Flett, so I'm not much help there. Aussie comic novelists/journos/writers... can't be faffed to gurgle them. Thu 21 Jan 2010 19:32:34 GMT+1 Lady_Sue dav, hope it all went OK. No more details, thanks anyway. As for the 'budgie smugglers' - who was that female representing the Oz Republican side of things anyway? [thinks: any wonder I left, the blokes were bad enough...] Thu 21 Jan 2010 19:18:34 GMT+1 Sindy [ignores lucien]I meant to add:*and boys! Thu 21 Jan 2010 18:35:58 GMT+1 lucien desgai Anyone else remember the dead parrot sketch? Thu 21 Jan 2010 18:32:13 GMT+1 Sindy Hey, girls* - what d'you think of me new budgie smugglers? Thu 21 Jan 2010 18:17:05 GMT+1 Big Sister I rather imagine it went something like this David: Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:49:37 GMT+1 Big Sister David (296) He went to a great deal of trouble over his appearance, including getting a haircut. I suspect the smart clothes were borrowed in your honour ;o) As to the money, well, he'd have brought you grapes if that was the case, surely? Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:39:18 GMT+1 Big Sister David, shame about the grapes. Did he bring his camera? Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:35:55 GMT+1 davmcn BS 295, I have a Glass Box in mind, but they might not like it. Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:26:47 GMT+1 davmcn BS 295, But he didn't bring me any grapes, or anything. Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:25:46 GMT+1 davmcn BS 295, I'm glad Looter doesn't use the Beach. He looked like a middle class businessman with smart clothes and lots of money. Some leftie! But very nice. He stayed for nearly 1 1/2 hours. Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:24:49 GMT+1 Big Sister Hello!!!!!!! David, you're back!I've only just sent a suggestion to Eddie for a Glass Box in your honour. Oh, and Looternite filled us in on last night's get together - the highlights, that is.Really glad all went well and to see you here again. Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:11:48 GMT+1 davmcn Sid, BS, etc, Everything went OK. In on Tuesday, out on Thursday, with a stop at the pub on the way home. If Looter showed up, I missed him. Musta gone to the wrong hospital. Thu 21 Jan 2010 16:09:24 GMT+1 Big Sister PS. Val, you can 'skip' the trailer - there's an option near the bottom right hand corner to do just that. Thu 21 Jan 2010 14:57:47 GMT+1 Big Sister ValP: Try clicking on some of the objects in the cubicle and see what happens. It is very funny. Note that there is a time limit (on the right), not that it matters much unless, like me, you like to try to get a higher score! Most of the objects are 'vulnerable', with the exception (from what I can see) of his chair, the post-its and the pile of paper underneath the files .... Do try it again, it really is fun! Thu 21 Jan 2010 14:57:03 GMT+1 ValeryP Watched the trailer in a bemused fashion, then was even more bemused by the game Big Sis - but I'm not awfully good at following instructions. I just seemed to be able to get the guy to run across the room with the pc and launch it out the window. Was there an option to do something else/it faster/it slower etc??Put the SamCam on last night when I went out to the pictures - not on me, obviously, on Sam! Returned to 40 photos, 39 of which were black and one taken roundabout a third of the way through that actually has pixels visible. I say pixels advisedly - not quite sure what we're seeing. Posting on Livre de Visage now. Thu 21 Jan 2010 14:49:26 GMT+1 Sindy Yum! Thanks DiY! Thu 21 Jan 2010 11:14:11 GMT+1 DiY Morning All!There is a tray of sausage geralds at NC's for elevenses.:-) Thu 21 Jan 2010 11:11:06 GMT+1 Big Sister Glad you liked it Frances, though I've been struggling to get a score beyond 94%. That guy is so clever, don't you think? And it's lovely that he's put his work on the internet for us to play with. Thu 21 Jan 2010 09:19:03 GMT+1 Lady_Sue Annasee, indeed it is. Your comment reminded me of a favourite Oscar Wilde quote: "The only way to waste money is to save it". Bit of a motto.Thawed out and we have spring water (cold taps only). Still no water for a variety of other needs I wont list here. Would be bliss to have hot water on tap but am grateful to have any running water - it was very primitive here for a while! Time to hit the hammock.*whoops*Time to lower myself gently into the hammock. Night all. Wed 20 Jan 2010 23:48:07 GMT+1 needsanewnickname Big Sis, that cubicular bashing was therapeutic (and so many faces which, well, deserved it)Thanks!!! Wed 20 Jan 2010 22:50:47 GMT+1 annasee Sue, surely wine is for drinking, not hoarding? Don't keep it too long, it might evaporate! Hope you are thawing out now & able to get water from taps again? (Though if not, suppose drinking wine a necessity...) Wed 20 Jan 2010 21:07:42 GMT+1 Lady_Sue AnneP@279: I doubt they had such a lovely wine delivered at Mafeking. Am enjoying same. So lovely to be able to share with all my frogger friends and hoard wine simultaneously. Wed 20 Jan 2010 19:05:33 GMT+1 DiY 'ave I missed much?RL too busy for my liking wot wiv software testing 'n all.Perhaps a 'Wordsmith' could give me a précis?Besides, me Norman Styles r giving me grief 'n I can't sit down fur too long.!;-)BTw, nu spel cheker is bryl! Wed 20 Jan 2010 19:00:52 GMT+1 needsanewnickname Aha! Wed 20 Jan 2010 18:50:59 GMT+1 Big Sister Frances: Look at the bottom right hand corner of the trailer and you can 'skip' it. Wed 20 Jan 2010 18:42:48 GMT+1 needsanewnickname Oh! There was something after the trailer? I might go back...It was so quiet in here this morning I thought everyone had got swept offshore Wed 20 Jan 2010 18:37:17 GMT+1 Anne P Lady Sue, so glad Mafeking has been relieved. Do hope the hamper included lots of the things you've recently been deprived of. Wed 20 Jan 2010 17:58:27 GMT+1 Lady_Sue Oh yes please gossipmistress! Having had a 'relief of Mafeking' hamper arrive, as if by magic, this afternoon in RL - will place a faux version of same on the bar for all to enjoy! Wed 20 Jan 2010 17:49:13 GMT+1 gossipmistress Wow! People were hiding behind the dunes after all.... Pimms, anyone? Wed 20 Jan 2010 17:35:16 GMT+1 Sindy 92% Wed 20 Jan 2010 16:55:09 GMT+1 Sindy ... zzzzzzz ...Time for elevenses yet?... zzzzzzz ... Wed 20 Jan 2010 16:52:16 GMT+1 Anne P And I've being wandering in and out.... Wed 20 Jan 2010 16:45:10 GMT+1 Big Sister GM: I'm here too! Wed 20 Jan 2010 16:42:57 GMT+1 gossipmistress It's very quiet here today! I seem to have the beach to myself except that lone figure paddling down in the sea - Gillianian!! Wed 20 Jan 2010 16:41:47 GMT+1 Big Sister I skipped the trailer ... but the game is good fun. Wed 20 Jan 2010 13:05:15 GMT+1 Gillianian That's a nice trailer before the stress test too, Big Sister ;o)I wonder if the smell of freshly- cooked waffles will tempt anyone here today? There's a choice of bacon and/or maple syrup to go with them.In the meantime, I'm going for a paddle.... Wed 20 Jan 2010 13:02:04 GMT+1 Big Sister Feeling stressed anyone? Tue 19 Jan 2010 23:39:10 GMT+1 Stewart_M Missed the fizz, anyone want cocoa? Tue 19 Jan 2010 23:21:55 GMT+1 Fifi Oooh yes please Sid, I'm gasping!* holds out glass again *{glug! gluggle! fzzzzz..... glug!} Tue 19 Jan 2010 22:49:12 GMT+1 Sindy Ah, hello Fifi - I retrieved a bottle of champers earlier - ready for a glass? Tue 19 Jan 2010 22:33:01 GMT+1 Fifi Er... are we still talking about champagne, Lucien?* turns pink, herself! *Anyone wants me, I'll be on the naughty step with Sid and what's left of the kangaroo. Tue 19 Jan 2010 22:17:49 GMT+1 lucien desgai Is it pink, Lady Sue? Tue 19 Jan 2010 20:30:16 GMT+1 Fifi * holds out glass *Sorry to be so predictable but....;o) Tue 19 Jan 2010 20:04:47 GMT+1 Lady_Sue Valery, champagne! Just what I was going to suggest after really tough day in RL. *pop* *pop* Anyone care for a glass? Tue 19 Jan 2010 19:35:54 GMT+1 ValeryP Back from the pre-electricity days in RL again, I don't care if it is too early for champers (is it ever too early?). We had yet another delivery of defective electricity yesterday afternoon, but this time it didn't take out the pc's power supply. However, since the last blip did, and it blipped 3 times in an evening, I deemed it better to leave the pc unplugged until a new day dawned. Amazing how much housework got done instead :o). So now I get to put my feet up and feel virtuous - pop! Tue 19 Jan 2010 11:47:55 GMT+1 Big Sister Good thinking, Sid, and very resourceful. Tue 19 Jan 2010 10:32:58 GMT+1 Sindy Big Sis - I was thinking he could write it on the inside of his thigh ... Tue 19 Jan 2010 10:16:34 GMT+1 Big Sister Sid, that's very funny, though I doubt David will be in a position to tell the surgeon (at least, I hope he'll be under anaesthetic?)David, can I add my greetings to those of Sid when you meet Looternite? Perhaps he'll bring you the Luton News, along with a LED torch to help you read it under the sheets after lights out. Tue 19 Jan 2010 10:14:28 GMT+1 Sindy davmcn - just came across this on a DIY site: "Remember as with all carpentry related projects. Measure twice-Cut once." I thought you might like to pass that on to your surgeon. Tue 19 Jan 2010 09:43:14 GMT+1 Sindy davmcn @253I'm doing the usual liberal thing, allowing you to make your own mind up!Good luck today - say hi to Looternite for us. Tue 19 Jan 2010 09:40:02 GMT+1 davmcn EtE 254, Or was it Gee by The Crows? Tue 19 Jan 2010 09:27:06 GMT+1 davmcn EtE 251, The great majority of them after Bill Haley. Tue 19 Jan 2010 09:13:08 GMT+1 davmcn Sid 242, I assume you are using the British meaning of pecker, not the US one.Anybody here want to buy a goat or some goat cheese? I have a number you can call. Thanks everybody. Tue 19 Jan 2010 09:06:28 GMT+1 Sindy I'm not really a Delia person, Lady Sue ... though I was interested to learn that she made the cake on Let It Bleed. Tue 19 Jan 2010 08:28:49 GMT+1 GotToTheEnd Most over-rated pop acts ever?1. The Beach Boys - so bad otherwise, they didn't deserve to have written the good bits in God Only Knows and the two decent lines in Good Vibrations.2. U2 - for making song an art form bereft of melody and wit3. Van Morrison as a single performer.'Nuff said? Well, after just one of his over-long over-many stanzas, YES!Nite, nite. Mon 18 Jan 2010 23:40:00 GMT+1 Big Sister Stewart, thanks for that. Unfortunately, my technology didn't allow for anything more sophisticated, but perhaps the guys on the Cameron website will be able to make a better job of it. ;o) Mon 18 Jan 2010 23:25:56 GMT+1 Lady_Sue Sidley-widley, were you watching that doccy on Delia, by any chance? I was hooked! Gin is great, pre dins, but champers wonderful anytime. Like now. You ask what's a good name for a wine waiter? "Hurry Up". Mon 18 Jan 2010 23:14:50 GMT+1 Sindy ... and look, plates of spam sandwiches! What a treat for a night such as this, with gherkins, cucumbers and various relishes unknown before on this beach of delights! Mon 18 Jan 2010 22:19:54 GMT+1 Sindy I'm back, Lady Sue - and I've brought lots of gin! Mon 18 Jan 2010 20:42:50 GMT+1 Stewart_M Big sis. What a great piccy! Mair 4 pm! Hasn't the natural wood of the verandah weathered well? Anyway - re the kanga - everything was going well till I got my lips round ... here, come a bit closer, don't want everyone to hear ... Mon 18 Jan 2010 19:04:20 GMT+1 Sindy davmcn - keep your pecker up, and don't stay prostrate for too long ... Mon 18 Jan 2010 18:12:46 GMT+1 lucien desgai Good luck Dav ... we'll all be thinking of you! Mon 18 Jan 2010 18:11:28 GMT+1 Big Sister Good luck tomorrow, David. Mon 18 Jan 2010 18:04:10 GMT+1 davmcn LS 235, I will reveal all when then entire (or as entire as we can get) story is uncovered. It gets stranger by the minute. Maybe we will make a film about it, with appropriate words to the Up/Down theme for the theme song at the beginning. You know who might call you know who tonight.jonnie 237, I was in the L&D for a week at the beginning of November and had to wash myself, as did everybody else in my ward. The food wasn't bad, though. Mon 18 Jan 2010 17:50:19 GMT+1 Fifi If anyone wants me I'll be on the naughty step, picturing what Sid said he'd do to a kangaroo...... Mon 18 Jan 2010 17:46:27 GMT+1 jonnie Just heard the news about davmcn - Ouch, that sounds painful but I'm sure you will spoilt rotten by all the nurses. I'm not sure which hospital you are being admitted to, however, if it's the Luton and Dunstable they are famous for giving wonderful bed baths.Get well soon Mon 18 Jan 2010 16:55:03 GMT+1 Anne P Hang about Sid, you haven't been taking lessons from Diggles while you've been away, have you? Mon 18 Jan 2010 16:51:24 GMT+1 Lady_Sue dav@209: no no, you misunderstand (I think!). I meant that it's up to you to decide whether to share Anne and my sleuthing results with fellow beach froggers. We are simply respecting your privacy. Mon 18 Jan 2010 16:49:42 GMT+1 Lady_Sue *bang* Mon 18 Jan 2010 16:46:15 GMT+1 Sindy I'll blow up the kangaroo ... Mon 18 Jan 2010 16:45:02 GMT+1 Lady_Sue Sid@220: what a surprise! Not that I could ever, possibly, doubt your posts but I know Australia Day is 26th January. Checked on wiki and today is indeed the anniversary of the day Governor Arthur Phillip sailed the 'Supply' into the bay in 1788. He decided it was too sandy so moved to Port Jackson on 26th and hoisted the flag. Later that afternoon the remaining ships of the First Fleet arrived. Do you suppose the first arrivals celebrated for eight days with a beach party and just didn't want anyone to know? Here's an inflatable shark and some prawns (real Ozzie ones, as big as bananas) for the Barbie. Oh, what a pity Sindy's no longer with us.Themed party? OK, I'll wear my itty bitty bikini with the arrow pattern. Fizz time! *pop* *pop* *pop* Mon 18 Jan 2010 16:44:50 GMT+1 davmcn LS 209, You and Anne share what? [Thinks: do I need to rephrase that?] Hurray anyway! I'll just put that spare bottle of fizz on ice for later...
