Tradition and History, should assure victory. I Spend most time on S.P.L., but looking at England, this is historicaly the #1 game, you deserve to be in the E.P.L., not a division lower. Players give it all, it's the History of the Club, which is the supporters and their Ancestors. Have a Good game lads. It looks like Chris Brunt remembered us this evening with the free kick that led to the West Brom goal. I've suffered relegation and not enjoyed much success since I started as a Wednesdayite in the 1960s. Relegation is desperate for everyone involved, but especially for the fans. Our problem is that we can't support 6 clubs - we've got one. And 40-odd years of disappointment, relegation (plus one cup and a play-off trophy) is something only a football fan understands. If Wednesday were a 40-year personal relationship I would have divorced 35 years ago. Unfortunately I know fans of 75% of the other clubs have the same feelings. People always say you are privileged as a professional footballer. At least you have the choice to leave - we fans can't. Once again - for the fans - play out of your skins on Sunday Mon 26 Apr 2010 22:24:31 GMT+1 Michael Gray http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/michaelgray/2010/04/a_professional_always_has_some.html?page=91#comment32 reply to no 19I cant agree with you there. The effort the lads put in to the derby game was first class. Granted the game wasnt the best but we gave it everything we had. This is why we find ourselves in this awful mess. The manager has brought some great fresh ideas wich the players have enjoyed. Unfortunately the results of late havnt been what we need. We had chances to win at coventry and sheff utd to name two but unfortunately we couldnt hang on. Lets hope it goes down to the wire and we get the result we need. Unfortunately they scored a minute after we did and we had to try and do it all over again. Gutted at the end of the game but lets hope west brom do us a favour on mon nite so we can take it into the last game of the season in front of our great support. This could be said for just about every team in the Championship which is why it's the hardest league in the world IMO.Micky will you stay if we get relegated? We should be too good to go down but if you don't want it enough and can't score a goal then it's back to League One. We've got nothing to play for2. It's a lot easier to get to Hillsborough than Selhurst Park, which anyone will know if they've been to Selhurst Park not to mention the cost.3. The excitement of the derby matches and of course the increased revenue from playing the Owls rather than Palace.4. Guarenteed 6 points next season... ha ha! I understand it must be difficult for you to identify some of the real reasons the club is staring relegation in the face. The truth can be tough to take, but quite frankly this squad has massively underperformed this season. As fans, we have witnessed too many unacceptable performances that have lacked commitment, determination and effort. The football for Championship level at times has been dire. The fans do not expect to see top quality football, but they expect and deserve their team to show pride, passion and guts when playing for their club. No-one can pretend we have seen that this season, which is reflected in literally hundreds and hundreds of angry, disappointed fans' comments on the discussion forums. Our club with its huge fan base should not be facing relegation to league one. Smaller clubs, Doncaster, Barnsley, Bristol City, Scunthorpe have all succeeded where we have failed, and that is producing a team that plays with commitment, pride and guts. They are all safe, whilst we need a miracle to stay up.It's no good glossing over the truth, the league position speaks for itself as do the season's results. I feel great sympathy for Alan Irvine, who I feel has been badly let down by some indifferent, lazy and shocking performances by his players. I hope he has a massive clear out and an opportunity to re-build, a chance to develop his own players, his own style and management skills. For me this squad should be consigned to history. I was at the game on Sunday and like you said it was a scrappy game but probably a fair result. If JJ could finish then it could have been a different story but hey thats football.I'd just like to wish the lads all the best for the last 2 games, both of which I will be at - singing my heart out. If we relax and play the football we know we can then we'll be ok and will get the results we need. I know its easier said than done but us fans know what our players are capable if they put the effort in.All the best Mickey, take care mate Fri 23 Apr 2010 10:00:41 GMT+1 MichaelNB http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/michaelgray/2010/04/a_professional_always_has_some.html?page=14#comment5 Good blog Mickey.I think the derby game really summed up how the latter part of the season since Irvine took over) has gone for us - plenty of work-rate, but just not clinical enough in the final third. It's a travesty that we again find ourselves staring down the barrel of relegation, but as Leeds, Southampton, Charlton etc (and ourselves a couple of seasons ago) have shown, no-one is too big to go down. I suppose it's not that surprising given the lack of resources subsequent managers have had to work with over the years, but maybe now with what Club 9 Sports announced yesterday serious investment may be on the horizon. What effect is it having on the players to hear this news? Reading between the lines of what's on Club 9's website there is going to be somewhat of a shake-up at Hillsborough if this deal goes through.Keep up the good work! I hope the Owls do indeed survive another season in the CCC for the two or more games we'll enjoy next year. however, your fans, your manager and some of your players have been let down by frankly disgraceful performances. i won't mention individuals but i'm sure they know who they are. I know you amongst other playes at hillsbrough have worked your socks off but some others just haven't done justice to the (as much as i dislike saying it) great club you have. also having to rely on a team in adminastration, losing its manager and one of their best players to play poorly is pretty awful and some of the players at Hillsbrough should take a long, hard look at themselves come the end of the season.UTB!
