Things like the 888 Ladiesblog spam (beware - strong language!) story are the things that catch the eye and make for a good laugh, but there is a genuine social cost to that kind of awful activity.Even if you're not that interested/aware of the carbon footprint aspect of spam, the sheer waste in human productivity that is foisted upon bloggers in firefighting that stuff. I've got a blog and every day there's a few dozen more spammy comment to troll through and delete. I know some sites just roll over and give in. It's sad.
