My only concern is I feel slightly 'punished' for enjoying the culture of the past. How I love Cream records and Woody Allen films that belong to my parents generation, and how Adam feels that these cultural artefacts are essentially holding us back from seeing any new ideas.
I think that Radiohead lyric is key from the 90's (the bends) - 'I wish it was the 60's, I wish I could be happy, I wish, I wish that something would happen'...Generation X is stuck with that nostalgia, perhaps millennials (gen Y) have a bit more about them???
The video essentially suggests by focusing too much on detail, we have lost the context - which could lead us to an empty world. Has echo's of Adam's thoughts from 'the trap'. Also talks about the paradox of a quest for freedom while simultaneously living in a intensely monitored world.
