Overall there can be no complaints. We'll just have to show the Yanks how to behave properly in 2 years at Celtic Manor. Justine Rose came of age, Poults proved all wrong, Paul Casey was steady, G Mac was tremendous, Westwood, Peapod and Jiminez were poor. Garcia should be embarrassed about the way he conducted himself in the singles. Scandinavians showed the way to be, Robert Karlsson is superb. Oliver Wilson can hold his head high, good performance for a rookie.Faldo was not a favourite choice as Captain and he showed us why, what an embarrassment he is. Did we need to be introduced to all his family? He has the charisma of a slug. Look forward to welcoming the players to the Dunhill on the 2nd Oct. You will not hear these comments if Europe makes a comeback.Lee knows better. He plays in the USA regularly and knows that US crowds at any other tournament behave very well. This "BOO" stuff is a Ryder Cup phenomenon.Lee also has a nerve as a Forest fan, although that is where he gets his example of bad crowd behaviour (and I speak as a former 26 year Nottingham resident). "There's no need to do it between shots... interrupting the flow when we were trying to play." Totally understandable and he has a case. But he was also philiosphical about things - "What more can you say? We're playing in America."I guess my point is that the US team needed someone like Boo to bring it close to its 13th man - the crowd. And that's not a bad thing. Let's hope the Ryder Cup cauldron doesn't spill over today though... Sat 20 Sep 2008 11:31:46 GMT+1 the trampled skunk - some call me stinky http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/alextrickett/2008/09/three_cheers_for_boo.html?page=11#comment7 Have to agree that Boo's antics were a little unfair, though I dont think he meant any wrong in it, he just wanted the crowd to get really involved. Its just something the Europeans will have to put up with, a 40,000 strong partisan crowd is going to get rowdy no matter what you do (Id like to see the brave man who has the bottle to ask them to keep it down a bit). It will be interesting to see how Oliver Wilson will deal with that kind of pressure in todays session. As for the comments regarding Harrington being dropped, its seems a bit ridiculous that you would want to drop one of the best players Europe had yesterday. You could have put any one on the planet against Mickelson yesterday and he would have beat them. He was on fire. I have to say that even though I was disappointed that Europe came out of the first day with so few points, I was absolutely mesmerised by the golf on offer. Probably the best first day of Ryder Cup golf ive seen in a long time. The Europeans over all didnt play badly, the Americans were just too good. First time Ive seen JB Holmes, and every drive he hits has me in stitches (just hit it as hard as you can towards the flag and lets see what happens! Great stuff).I just hope that the Europeans now realise that they are in a real tough game and this inspires them to raise their own standards. Good Luck! He rammed home three American specialties: no etiquette, no sophistication, no class. We live in hope that we are not subjected to any further obscene antics from this 'country bumpkin' ass, or anybody else.Westwood and Garcia out? Huh? Sat 20 Sep 2008 10:33:15 GMT+1 kwiniaskagolfer http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/alextrickett/2008/09/three_cheers_for_boo.html?page=8#comment5 Don't understand why Poulter and Rose were put on the clock, yet Holmes and Weekley were not, especially as Weekley was deliberately delaying play with his childish exhortations. It is sadly typical that US crowds need to be choreographed, they can't be spontaneous, but Weekley's antics should have been sanctioned by the Match Referee.Pathetic. A fine player but a total Wally, but allowed to get away ith it.Team Europe have to play well enough to take the crowd out of it, or Johnny Miller will be stirring them up to some really bad behaviour on the wekend. It could get quite nasty. Sat 20 Sep 2008 09:06:17 GMT+1 matti76 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/alextrickett/2008/09/three_cheers_for_boo.html?page=5#comment3 Sorry, I'll have to dissent re: the absurdly named Boo Weekley. His conducting of the crowd, sumo posturing and 'aw shucks' apple pie interviews made me realise why a European win would make me so happy. Westwood didn't think much of it, and I don't blame him.As for Harrington, wrong to blame him, or anyone particularly, for yesterday's huge disappointment. The US played well, not much else to be said - let's hope it changes today. Keeps the interest up over there.Disappointed in Europe, doubtless everyone will blame Faldo, Poulter and everyone else English, but there is more to it than that.Is Harrington a team player? His record in Ryder Cup is shocking. Despite being a class act, he couldn't even get it going with Mcdowell.Strange decision from Faldo not to play Oliver Wilson on Day One. It's not like the European team played so well in the morning that he didn't have options to drop.If Harrington doesn't win this morning Faldo needs to drop him We can't carry this self centered idiot too much longer. BUT... boy can he play, he is one of the finest strikers of a ball on tour and on his day (as he showed yesterday) he can attack any pin placement. I have been following Boo for about 3 years now, and he is the most genuine character on tour, who is always kind and generous. Overall he is a great addition to what will be a great Ryder Cup.
