I hope it lives upto people's (my) expectations. Big screens put up at most public places like gardens, junctions and stations in Mumbai. Offices have been granted half day working although many might take an off day. (like me) I cannot recollect any Ind v Pak game given so much importance in past world cups. Ofcourse times have changed a lot since these 2 teams last played in a WC 8 years ago and media have also evolved a lot and stir up emotions very easily by repeatedly broadcasting same videos and messages again. As for the match itself, it will be tense and gripping as ever, just praying it's the right result for India. I will not read much into either of England results on the weekend. The cricket team were tired and just went through the motions if the game. Football team is not yet into rebuilding phase. I will talk only after they rebuild the team with some new faces. Nobody, is talking about the semi finals tomorrow. Everyone's talking about India v Pak. Now even the PM's of both countries will be watching together. I hope they keep his visit to only cricket as I (Indian) don't want any dialogue with Pak counterpart of promoting peace, fighting terrorism together and improving diplomatic ties because I know they will simply not keep their word. I hope England also are mentally strong and physically recovered. They have'nt played for 10 days now so they must be raring to go. You'll have to play a lot of spin and play well. From your perspective Strauss, Trott, Morgan and Swann are key. Bat first score 280+ and put Sri Lanka under pressure. From what we have seen about England so far in this tournament - it could be anyone's game. Sat 26 Mar 2011 08:03:24 GMT+1 jacksofbuxton http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/robborobson/2010/05/the_last_post.html?page=97#comment2180 Be lovely if that came true SS11.Hope for England is that Jayawardene and Sangakkara are the only Sri Lankan players to have scored runs against the bigger teams.Malinga and Murali are obviously the danger bowlers.But.....Look at New Zealand yesterday, did the basics well.Put pressure on in the field, bowl straight, take your catches and your chances. No risks with the bat.Rumours are Ian Bell will open and I think that's quite right. He isn't a slogger for the last 10 overs of a game,he has all the shots to pierce the field in the 1st power play.Expect Sri Lanka to win,but....COME ON LADS....... But if Vettori and McCullum can turn the ball and do something special, NZ might have a chance. Fri 25 Mar 2011 08:17:25 GMT+1 jacksofbuxton http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/robborobson/2010/05/the_last_post.html?page=96#comment2163 New Zealand bat pretty deep.Nathan McCullum,Jacob Oram and Daniel Vettori at 7/8/9 is very strong.Southee is a fab new ball bowler.Saffers haven't scored well (bar De Villiers and Duminy) so there is a chance for NZ to get early wickets.A lot will depend on the wicket as well.If there's plenty of pace then that will suit Steyn and Morkel, but if it's a bunsen then I fancy the Kiwis. Fri 25 Mar 2011 08:13:13 GMT+1 SS11 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/robborobson/2010/05/the_last_post.html?page=96#comment2162 Morning Jack,Emotions aside, Pakistan and India will go into the match as equals. The team which shows more desire to win the game will eventually do it. There will be a lot of talk about that game for next 3-4 days and I hope Indian players dont get sucked into the hype. They should again stick to basics and do well in field as they did against the Aussies. It will be gr8 if New Zealand can beat Saffers today. But how? I think their only chance will be if they bat first and post a huge total. Otherwise South Africa will win it on canter. I barely left my seat after Sachin's wicket. A very happy day and more to come on Wednesday (fingers-crossed). I think it will be unofficial national holiday when the two arch-rivals face off at Mohali in semis. Thu 24 Mar 2011 12:58:54 GMT+1 SS11 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/robborobson/2010/05/the_last_post.html?page=95#comment2150 Jack, Pitch is not turning as much as it was expected. But it will definitely get slower as the game progresses making it difficult for hitting thru the line. So very important set players dont do anything foolish and plan to play all 50 overs.Target 261. It is a winnable target, but will have to play really good to chase down the target. See off Lee's overs and pick runs of others.Come on India!! Thu 24 Mar 2011 12:47:07 GMT+1 jacksofbuxton http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/robborobson/2010/05/the_last_post.html?page=95#comment2149 So it's 261 to win.India are very reliant upon the openers,as the middle order is a little bit flakey,so they need to start sensibly and steadliy.2 or 3 quick wickets and it's all over I think.
