Comments for en-gb 30 Fri 11 Jul 2014 18:28:28 GMT+1 A feed of user comments from the page found at Zootmac Fun_n_GamesI always enjoy Chris's blog, and the postings, and usually leave a fairly daft contribution, in appreciation, and in an attempt to add to the entertainment. Like you, I can't abide the killjoys elsewhere. I tell myself not to get drawn in. But...Anyway, another review tomorrow from courteous Chris, I hope. Thu 17 Sep 2009 13:30:11 GMT+1 Fun_n_Games Gee, Chris, some of those puns made me wince. In a good way of course. Always an enjoyable blog. Keep up the good work.Zoot - is this your training pitch before the weekend slug-fest on Robbo's blog? I think with these impressive posts you are really spoiling us . . . Tue 15 Sep 2009 06:46:23 GMT+1 Zootmac 39 boomshakalakI think that Chris was implying that he couldn't afford the Jimmy Choos, although, frankly, I think the whole Jimmy Choos thing was a crafty piece of product placement. This whole product placement thing is becoming a Big Issue. That's me earned my ten bob.I told my wife that I'd be getting her the Ferrari Rocher for Christmas. She seemed to be very pleased. Is that how you spell "Rocher"?. Mon 14 Sep 2009 08:41:29 GMT+1 boomshakalak I am outraged!A BBC journalists WAG getting a pair of Jimmy Choos... this is disgusting! a complete waste of my license fee... Mon 14 Sep 2009 07:24:48 GMT+1 northernsuperspur #36Wait, a scotsman that knows what the knockout rounds of the world cup actually are?Actually wait, there was that referee that one time. Sat 12 Sep 2009 10:42:49 GMT+1 BeyondThePale Jockos lol! They talk the talk, but when it comes to the action - be they footballers, tennis players, Jacobites - they're constantly found wanting. Not that they'd want to be at the World Cup anyway - how would they manage without their fortnight in Benidorm? Sat 12 Sep 2009 10:27:02 GMT+1 RColtrane Perfect! Keep posting nonsense like this. I await your review of the week after England's World Cup quarter final defeat with relish! When will you cowardly sassenach's ever learn? Sat 12 Sep 2009 10:06:19 GMT+1 LincsKopite Good blog as always lol! :-) Sat 12 Sep 2009 09:30:56 GMT+1 BeyondThePale I think the best headline of the week is that seen in the entertainment section of the BBC's news website:"Boyle is 'edging closer' to Porno"This made me physically shudder, until I read the story and realised it concerns writer Danny Boyle's possible decision to turn his sequel to Trainspotting into a movie and not a new career move for the Britain's Got Talent mentalist and fashion disaster. Sat 12 Sep 2009 09:24:30 GMT+1 northernsuperspur Yes, clearly Homer was referring to "Bob" Giggs. As for Beckham aka Goldenballs, while he may be playing in a poor league at the moment, he is sure to find a way to get a loan move to some major European side when the MLS season ends. Naturally Ancelotti wont be able to use his services again, but you can be sure someone out there will be happy to make use of him and give him match practice at a competitive level.Dont Manchester United have a bit of a wobbly looking right wing at the moment....? Sat 12 Sep 2009 08:11:47 GMT+1 olgalover Ermmm.... a character saying your name does not count as a cameo. Homer said "Giggs", not even "Ryan Giggs" so that's even more tenuous. Fri 11 Sep 2009 22:47:34 GMT+1 Chris Charles 5. DJL1984: Just seen your gag while going through the comments. Take a bow, son! And get your hat while you're there. 18. ron_will_be_missed: No problem, passed it on as promised but haven't heard about any progress yet. Will see if I can find out if my BBC mucker is going to do anything with it. 20. VidicThe Destroyer: Well thank you very much for your kind words - surprised no-one else came up with the Cilic Bang line, but then I never thought of 'Super Caley Go Ballistic, Celtic Are Atrocious', so think I'm pretty much 1-0 down. 21. BeyondThePale: Top headline! You'll go a long way.24. JezzaSCFC: Ah yes of course, the Stoke City chant for those naughty Chelsea boys - will be all ears (and given the size of my Britneys, that won't be hard).22. The Deluded & 30. Shanks: Yes, let's enjoy the optimism while it lasts - England are just a sending-off, a penalty-shoot-out and a metatarsal or two away from yet more World Cup heartbreak. Groan. Fri 11 Sep 2009 20:22:13 GMT+1 Shanks: 'i only wanted him for the reserves' Really funny blog Chris - we are on the long and winding road to South Africa where I am sure the team will please please me by going at least as far as the Semi Finals....... Fri 11 Sep 2009 18:41:31 GMT+1 the one who knows too many facts Great post Fri 11 Sep 2009 17:49:08 GMT+1 Redwal1 That's a very funny blog. Really enjoyed reading it. Fri 11 Sep 2009 17:46:09 GMT+1 BeyondThePale What happens when Joe Cole is back? Fri 11 Sep 2009 17:40:30 GMT+1 Goal! Is it me or are metatarsels very flimsy during World Cup seasons? Fri 11 Sep 2009 17:06:04 GMT+1 wedontknowfootball Brilliant post, as always really.I'm really happy how well England has done in qualifying for the World Cup, the problem I have is that the tournament will be next summer and from now til then - a lot can happen. There's the Premier League, Champions League, cups, metatarsal injuries.I just hope everyone stays fit and on form for the tournament. Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:38:59 GMT+1 JezzaSCFC Chris, top blog, fella. Listen out for the "you're not signing any more" from the Brit on MOTD tomorrow. As for your lot, good luck v Posh (surely you could have got a lame Beckham joke out of watching Posh in action on Saturday afternoon?) or rather "Up the Rs!!", which brings us niceley back to Dale Winton again.....;-)Jezza Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:23:38 GMT+1 BeyondThePale Seriously, on the Beckham issue, it's laudable of Beckham that he does all that travelling to make it to the England game, but let's be honest, a lot of it is do with the prestige of being part of the setup, which helps his bank balance enormously - as did his move to the USA which, as nobody seems to want to acknowledge, has seriously damaged him as a footballer. It's all well and good people bringing up the international retirements of Carragher and Scholes, but they're still playing club football at the very highest level, not languishing in a comedy league that wouldn't pass for Fizzy Pop league 2 in this country. Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:18:29 GMT+1 TheDeluded Nah! Get carried away! There's 10 and a half months to enjoy before the bubble bursts ... Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:16:44 GMT+1 BeyondThePale How about "One In Emile-ion (shots on target)"?I'll get me coat... Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:12:32 GMT+1 DavidBeckhamsBeard The Cillic Bang headline is just too good! Its far too clever for anyone working for any of the Red Tops to think of! Having said that the Emile Heskey one was pretty darn good!Excellent blog as always Chris Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:09:53 GMT+1 Chris Charles 14. 1ronjaw: Agreed, Michael Shields massive story but this is supposed to be a light-hearted blog and not really much humour I could get out of that. 15. andrewtheboom: Would I lie to you? 16. souness007: Even more bizarrely, someone was only mentioning that in the office yesterday - the first time I'd heard about it.17. SimpreZola: Amazing? You haven't been on de beers have you? Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:00:58 GMT+1 ron_will_be_missed Chris,Just wanted to say.. Thanks for responding to my comment on your last blog regarding Sunil Chhetri, the striker i mentioned about missing out on QPR. I hope there would be an article on that on BBC in near future.Would really appreciate if you could somehow check with your colleague if that is worth researching and publishing on and if yes, when can we expect something on that. Thanks Again. Fri 11 Sep 2009 16:00:00 GMT+1 SimplyZola Amazing blog. Look forward to this every week. Fri 11 Sep 2009 15:41:54 GMT+1 sounesstablishment007 Bizarely, Tippex (or liquid paper as it was originally known) was actually invented by Bette Nesmith - the mother of Mike Naismith of 'The Monkees' fame! This is a true fact - nothing to do with football, but true.Good result for England, but don't get carried away now - there are much better sides than Croatia who you must beat if you want to win the World Cup. Fri 11 Sep 2009 15:33:30 GMT+1 andrewtheboom Gag central this week, Chris.Incredible stat about Heskey and Terry, I had so little trust in you that I had to verify it via wikipedia (because wikipedia never lies). Fri 11 Sep 2009 15:26:33 GMT+1 1ronjaw Michael Shields? Big news...Love the Cilic Bang... Fri 11 Sep 2009 15:23:30 GMT+1 Rovers Return - HKR AWAY DAYS Excellent article once again, Chris. I particularly like:The big man's record of seven goals in 56 appearances for England is one more than defender John Terry has managed in the same number of games, although the 'Emile Heskey Needs Shooting' headline in the Mirror was a little harsh, not to mention the pay-off line - 'Best not let him do it himself'. ANDElsewhere, Southampton fans have launched a petition on Facebook to name the city's airport after Matt Le Tissier - can't see that getting off the ground.Suits my sense of humour down to the ground! Fri 11 Sep 2009 15:19:25 GMT+1 dmc4manu Good blog as usual.Megaforest1: Why would someone tippex a screen. Stupid. It's much better to just replace it, you won't have that white line in front of you!Cheers Fri 11 Sep 2009 15:06:00 GMT+1 redandblackT-Save 606 Your name is Chris'll get laughed out of the patent office CC!anyways its good all copy and paste...yeah I ripped off someone else for me Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:57:22 GMT+1 BigGameBendtner- 5 more to go til B52 gets 50 I thought I was reading a Robbo column.. very similar style Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:52:12 GMT+1 RedBlueArmy92 Quality sir, always a good read... Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:52:00 GMT+1 Liverpool Andy Great blog as always! Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:47:28 GMT+1 Chris Charles 3. DJL1984: No, you're getting me confused with someone else. Copydex was my invention. 6. redandblackT1899: It's called attempting to make a silk purse from a sow's ear (and probably not succeeding). There wasn't an awful lot happening this week and I felt I had to lead off on the internationals, where there weren't a lot of off-the-wall incidents to report. More importantly, how do you get to do the trademark sign above your username? I'm well jealous innit. Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:25:20 GMT+1 redandblackT-Save 606 great blog as usual.I see you squeezed the life outta all the Beatles/England link.that's not your usual style CC.what's that?it is?O...ok.Anyways glad to see you got top billing on the main BBC page once again.I actually missed last week's compilation.keep it up mate! Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:20:07 GMT+1 DJL1984 Must of been blonde, mind you a tile slipped off my roof the other day, I went to my neighbours to ask to borrow their step ladder.... i don't get on with my real ladder :D.... getting coat Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:18:57 GMT+1 megaforest1 haha, however I did once (years ago) actually see someone make a mistake on their computer screen and actually tippex the screen! It seems they were not profficient with computers! Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:16:38 GMT+1 DJL1984 Top blogging. Did you invent Tippex? Correct me if i'm wrong :D!!!!! Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:13:45 GMT+1 megaforest1 Nearly 1st to comment again for the 2nd week! Have to settle for 2nd place this week, never mind!Great blog again, keep them coming! Beckham is an England legend, and always will be!!! Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:07:28 GMT+1 tomefccam Would you travel all those miles to play 10 minutes for your country, I'm guessing you would. Beckham most certainly would, so commend the guys attitude, he has never turned his back on his country for any reason. Alan Shearer retired from England at 29, pathetic when you consider Teddy Sheringham only began with England aged 27. Scholes retired when still in his peak, as did Carragher. You are given the honour to play for England, you do not choose. Fri 11 Sep 2009 14:01:43 GMT+1
