I have come across this band and have to tell you about Cafe Racer who are causing a huge wave in an around the midlands. They're relatively underground but are coming out with some of the best gigs I have seen for years and selling out 500+ at venues such as Kasbah (formerly the colliseum) in coventry. There no nonsense approach to their music makes the crowd react with and remember why they love music. You have to at least check them out because they are something special. These four lads have got the substance and the style to take rock and roll back to its roots and grab the country by the neck. I honestly havent felt so strongly about a relatively unknown but up and coming band before. Give them a listen at www.myspace.com/caferacermusic. I went to their packed out Kasbah gig again in Coventry and the crowd were electric and I couldn't believe they were unsigned. Anyway I strongly advise you check them out. Thanks. fred Tue 18 Nov 2008 13:55:15 GMT+1 dingobiscuits http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/stevelamacq/2008/11/squeezed_in.html?page=6#comment1 Since pretty much all bands have a myspace profile or suchlike these days, it would be great if 6 Music could edit together a podcast featuring clips from all the new music you're wading through, Steve. Just a wee snippet of each track followed by the name of the band, so interested folk can google them and hear a bit more. New music seems to be getting a bit samey these days, apart from a few notable examples, and 6 Music does have the resources and the remit to bring new music to a bigger audience without even having to broadcast it in the conventional way. I for one appreciate your hard work, dilligence, and sheer effort (although I do sometimes pity your poor ears) when it comes to seeking out new sounds, but perhaps it might be a good idea do delegate some of that responsibility to your listeners...
