It's a synch. Joe H and I can finely tell a male and female sparrow apart! (I know it doesn't say much for our bird skills, but you have to start somewhere).Hipsterrichieboy,(is your name supposed to be read as Hipster richie boy?) best crab apple is free crab apple. There a lovely wild tree on the far field that spread a pool of acid green apples around its feet that i often use. Golden Hornet is a good garden variety, very large yellow apples. A peelable size so good if you're not straining. There are plenty of very pretty cultivated varieties, we have two lovely deep, deep red crabapples called 'Pink Sensation', which made for lovely picking, but didn't translate to much.Must go as I can smell the sourdough is ready to come out of the oven.Oh and have a lovely new year too!a Sun 21 Dec 2008 18:46:05 GMT+1 tomra01 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/gardenersworld/alysfowler/2008/12/christmas_wish_list.html?page=5#comment2 Alys, you are one of Life's Good Things.
