Watching my cousin Graham Edmunds and the relay team not only retain the gold medal in the the 4x100m Freestyle Relay (34pts) but smash their 2004 record by 7 seconds, is at the top of my list! However the performances of Ellie Simmonds, Jodie Cundy and Liz Johnson were also fantastic.I salute all the Paralympians, they're an inspiration to us all! They practice, travel and compete. Very inspiring role models for the so called able-bodied society as well. Overcoming difficulties, hurdles and generating enthusiasm, hope, competition and camaraderie are the lessons many among us get a chance to learn from our distinguished and determined Olympians.Enjoyed reading the impressions and observations on the high points of the Beijing Paralympics by Marc Woods, Peter White, Tony Garrett, Dame Tanni Grey Thompson, Clare Balding, Chris Mitchell, Steve Cram, Nick Mullins and Elizabeth Hudson. Thanks !Dr. Cajetan Coelho Fri 19 Sep 2008 09:48:38 GMT+1 And http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olympics/2008/09/paralympic_memorable_moments.html?page=12#comment6 I adore all sport - but these Paralympics rank as the most enjoyable I have seen. My favoured moments were firstly Simon Laurens laughing and crying on the podium as he got his paradressage team gold and the expression on team-mate Lee Pearson's face. But most of all, it was Dave Roberts' Ayatollah in the pool after his 50m S7 freestyle win that equalled Dame Tanni's score of 11 golds. The ecstatic response of his family and friends. The expression on Dave's face said "I did it; and I did it for you." In his attitude Dave is totally professional, and more than any other athlete, this epitomises the fact that Paralympians are elite athletes, focused and prepared to sacrifice so much for their sports. Most of the sports involved I was happy to watch, unlike the Olympics. The best memory for me of the Games was Eleanor Simmonds winning her first Gold Medal. The emotion of it all got to me and I was crying with her. Thank you also to the BBC for giving us the opportunity to see the Games in action. I was forever watching the red button action and was trully thrilled with our team performance on the whole. A special thanks to the GB Wheelchair Basketball team, you have a new fan in me and I'd love to watch you play more as you put your all into each and every game. Not bad for someone who didn't care much for basketball before the Paralympics.I must congratulate EVERY Team GB member for giving your all for your sports and your country, and keeping the FEEL GOOD factor alive and well for Great Britain.Thank you one and all and I wish you the very best of British for London - 2012 Thu 18 Sep 2008 19:09:47 GMT+1 chlocus http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olympics/2008/09/paralympic_memorable_moments.html?page=8#comment4 I think that this Games was awesome! My favourites moments were the boys winning the 4x100m freestyle. The sheer enjoyment, delight and excitment on the faces of them afterwards was amazing to see. They are worked together to achieve something amazing. And when they were asked whether it was better to win a medal alone or as a team, it was so good to hear them all say "together" straight away. It shows how much it means to all of them. My other best moment was Eleanor Simmonds' first gold medal. The emotion that she showed after was so touching showing how totally unexpected her medal was to her. Her determination shows you how anything is achieveable even from a young age. She is an inspiration to us all. In fact they all are. Thank you Team GB both paralympic and olympic. You all did us proud and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. :D Thu 18 Sep 2008 15:40:54 GMT+1 rickypule http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olympics/2008/09/paralympic_memorable_moments.html?page=6#comment3 What a brilliant Paralympics with skill, endeavour, hope, rewards and tears. I was glued from start to finish......except for 8 minutes of closing ceremony with London 2012. When compared to opening and closing ceremonies performed by Chinese, this was completely naff. If this is forerunner of 2012 then be prepared to be embarassed. I used to play as an AB for Storm in the lower leagues and have had the priveledge of being beaten by teams that had some of the GB team in them including Ade so I know what they are like and how good they are.Well done lads on your bronze achievement. For our cyclists to win 12 of the 13 events is amazing. I would like to say well done to every British athlete that won a medal or did a P.B or just performed better than expected.
