It's different, innovative and should produce some fond memories.Well done BBC, on a very good choice. The story is a classic, and like any Western classic, there are multiple adaptations and versions being released. Good job I can avoid it because I am boycotting the lot. (Joseph; Sound of Music; Oliver)Now the whole of the BBC is going to be used as an advertising vehicle for Damon Albarn and his new opera.http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/saturdayreview_20070630.shtmlJust where does the BBC charter end and the commercial world start? Or do you guys need the cash as you are sending more journalists to the games than we are sending athletes? I agree with the majority of my fellow bloggers. Change him now and we can all forgive and forget... Don't we want to encourage kids to watch the olympics?? I thought it would have made more sense to use Chinese actors as a homage to the host country, if not, you may as well have used a Bulldog travelling to the east as a more direct interpretation. However according to Ollie Williams above."You'll be seeing Monkey across TV, radio, online, mobile and interactive coverage of the Games from BBC Sport."I look forward to seeing Monkey make an appearance on my radio! Monkey is one scary looking dude! Wed 28 May 2008 09:52:36 GMT+1 Mr2046 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olympics/2008/05/monkeys_journey_begins.html?page=0#comment0 I think you're being a bit unfair to the TV show you know as "Monkey" there.I grew up watching it in the late 80s in Australia, and I have strong fond memories of it. But aside from that, "Saiyuuki" as it was originally known in Japan (it being a TV series made in Japan in 1978), is a hugely successful and well known adaptation of Journey to the West, infact the first TV version ever made.I'm a huge fan of every adaptation of Journey to the West. So the Olympic adventures of Sun Wukong (Monkey), Zhu Bajie (Pigsy) and Sha Wujing (Sandy) should be a lot of fun! Wed 28 May 2008 06:48:18 GMT+1
