Especially an iPlayer app for the iPhone. We're looking at a range of options, including apps stores. However, our principle strategy is a web strategy one rather than app stores. We try to adhere to standard web technologies where possible. Is there any progress with iPhone downloads for iPlayer?Apple have proprietary download technology called Fairplay. No one has access to it. As soon as they open it up, we could potentially use it.Will live radio or television be available for the iPhone any time soon? It's not currently possible to listen live to BBC radio on a iPhone because the device doesn't support live streaming using standard web technologies and doesn't have an FM radio tuner. However, iPhone version 3.0 does now allow http streaming - so we are investigating what we can do with this. To answer your question about the cricket tables:Our cricket results/tables/fixtures are currently only available in WML format. This is a format that was specifically designed for mobile phones in the early days of the mobile internet. However, some modern phones (such as the iPhone) don't support it. We are working to generate the statistics in XHTML format too and hope to have this in place within the next month or so. Have a look at news.com.au's version - you can customise everything on it, with all your top headlines.I listen to live BBC radio on FStream app, there's lots of links/guides around the web on how to do that. iPlayer - an app would be nice, but for the time being I'm just using www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/index.html Thu 11 Jun 2009 09:36:32 GMT+1 The Phazer http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/06/mobile_day_thursday_june_11th.html?page=8#comment4 You can listen to all bbc radio stations on the Iphone using the wunder radio app.I already do but there's lots of integration that can't be done in this way (now playing etc etc etc), and the official BBC streams are at a higher bitrate.Phazer Thu 11 Jun 2009 09:14:51 GMT+1 juanpabloclubfoot http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/06/mobile_day_thursday_june_11th.html?page=6#comment3 Phazer,You can listen to all bbc radio stations on the Iphone using the wunder radio app.It streams fine over 2g, 2.5g, 3g and obviously wifi.Could anyone tell me why when i look at the cricket scoreboards page on my iphone it just displays an error message???I have never been able to view any scoreboards and have to rely on the live text updates for the latest scores. Thanks Wed 10 Jun 2009 15:41:58 GMT+1 The Phazer http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/06/mobile_day_thursday_june_11th.html?page=4#comment2 Oh, and are there any plans to make non-iPlayer video (as in News site stories etc etc) available on platforms that don't support Flash like the iPhone?Phazer Wed 10 Jun 2009 11:22:45 GMT+1 suewin123 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/06/mobile_day_thursday_june_11th.html?page=2#comment1 This post has been Removed Mon 08 Jun 2009 07:21:13 GMT+1 The Phazer http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/06/mobile_day_thursday_june_11th.html?page=0#comment0 I'm afraid these are nearly all iPhone related - Why doesn't the BBC have any iPhone or Ovi apps yet? Especially an iPlayer app for the iPhone. Is there any progress with iPhone downloads for iPlayer? Will live radio or television be available for the iPhone any time soon?Could the iPhone iPlayer publish it's availability schedule in advance like the PC version? There are differences.Phazer Fri 05 Jun 2009 21:07:12 GMT+1
