The Masters - Final Day

As I said previously, I'm still going with 9 under winning this championship and Tiger shooting that.

Immelman will shoot 76 today. I don't expect him to handle the pressure.

Woods will be there or thereabouts and I wouldn't rule him out of making a charge through the field and winning it. Everyone above him could crack, even Mickelson.

The one exception is Immelman. He is a tough cookie who has been through a lot personally recently and he is still the one to beat.

Never rule out the Tiger but he has NEVER come from behind on the last day to win a Major, not even when he was one shot behind and in the final pairing. If Tiger leaves his driver in his bag then he has a chance but, otherwise, he won't be hitting enough fairways to win this. No signs of Immelman or Snedeker panicking but it only takes one disaster... and Snedeker rode his luck a couple of times in R3. If Casey replicates his front 9 of yesterday then he will be in with a serious chance. It's between those 4 players imo and my money is on Immelman - looks really solid.

Tiger had never won a tournament from behind until recently, but has laid that ghost to rest.

I hope (if he wins that he wins it) rather than the others losing it. Im with you scotlandforever I think immelman is classy and has a great swing and today will be his day.

I hope casey and the brits can have a good showing or that it blows a gale and padraig comes flying through.

should be fun

Tiger will need 'things to go his way' as he puts it, to win today.

It happened in Dubai for him, earlier in the year, when a South African was leading.

Lineker & Grady said last night, 'it's a 6 horse race'.
I think it's a 4 horse race between Casey, Flesch, Snedeker & Immelman.

Good luck to Paul Casey.

I think Snedeker will tread water and the adrenalin will get the better of Casey. Woods will make a charge and will end up second behind Immelman who I think will win by a shot or two.

With the expected high winds i can see the likes of Woods, Snedeker and Casey struggling. In blustery conditions you have to favour Immelmann who has hardly missed a fairway with his controlled tee shots.

But at Augusta anything can happen and i feel that the masters will be won by he who masters the 13th through to the 16th holes.

The wind and pin placements will be key. If players start going backwards anyone from as far back as -2 could win, but immelman looked solid yesterday depends on his nerve i suppose. I know i'd be a nervous wreck i'm bad enough standing over a 2 footber for par in a bounce game lol.

The winner for the last umpteen Masters has always come from the final pairing. So it has to be Immelman or Snedeker

Woods is the man to beat and all the leading players know that.

If they falter (which often happens at Augusta over the final back 9) the Tiger will be burning bright <yikes>

I'm afraid I'll have to say Woods will be crowned champion. The guy has found trouble on numerous occasions and isn't being punished for it - lady luck is on his side.

If you or I were to drive our into the trees we'd be left with no shot. Anytime Tiger finds himself in trouble he has a full swing. Someone's looking after him!

Personally i think it will be the same final round as 2006 with nothing really happening. That day Mickelson was just cruising home with no one really catching him. Immelman will win by at least 2 shots. Snedeker will have a collapse,Casey and Flesch will go 2 or 3 under but it wont be enough. Tiger will huff and puff but get nowhere. Harrington will have a good round today to get up there but he lost his chance on round 1

There's a brilliant thread elsewhere reminding readers about Immelman's fortitude in winning his first Tour event from youknowwho.

I expect a repeat performance.

And: Golfbug:
Who exactly was the sixth horse nominated by Lineker and Grady?
Surely not Cink??
Do they get paid for that stuff???

I can see Woods stealing it. Woods has been building his challenge with 72, 71, 68 for the first 3 days. Expect him to pile on the pressure with a good round and leave it to the others to make sure they don't buckle under the pressure.

This one isn't for Woods, if he does come through the field then something is wrong with today's Golf, he's 7 shots behind the leader, 3 other players between him and the leader, surely not all four could mess up.

****************************

Firstly, Tiger is 6 shots not 7 shots behind. And if you think something would be wrong with todays golf, then how do you explain Millers round of 63 at oakmount? Miller was six strokes off the lead. He trailed 12 golfers, (Not just 4 like Tiger is trialing now) including eight who had won, or would win, major titles - Nicklaus, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Julius Boros, Gene Littler, Tom Weiskopf and Bob Charles. But his 63 leapfrogged them all, his 279 winning by one shot over John Schlee. Going by your logic something was wrong with golf in thsoe years <doh>

I quite fancy a three way playoff tonight, Immelmen, Casey and Woods.
Don't discount Mickelson quite yet, be very tough for him but I think he might make a podium ;-)

You should have saved your money, i've seen him choke a many come the final roud. He's a bit like Sergio. When the going gets tough he fades away only to make somehwat of a comeback at the fional holes when the pressure is off. By then its too late.

Its Trevor or Tiger.

Tiger has never won a major from coimg behind neverless 6 shots. Even though I consider him to be the greatest ever golfer he is not superman. But when he did beat another one of my other bets Bart Byrant with that final long putt a month ago I did begin to wonder.

I am not sure if imm will manage to hold out for this one but wouldn't be overly dissapointed if he does, what i would like to see though is some good changes at the top, and a play off is always good for the excitement

how about woods imm and casey in a three way playoff?

as for the 1537 questions,

I was playing off of 24 at the time of a big work event and managed to put my first tee shot in the bunker of the 9th hole, quite amazingly I had to bend it round one of my big bosses and backwards to get it there... but after that everything clicked and i went on to shoot a 79, nett 55 and win the game by about 12 shots...

needless to say I got cut badly after that before normality returned and i started to worry about not breaking 100 each time!!

I expect Trevor Immelman to win comfortably. He's been easily the most consistent all week, in control of his game and most importantly has six shots on Tiger Woods and nine on Mickelson going into the final round. It's been by no means the most thrilling Masters of recent years, so lets hope for some early moves by the big names, and some nerves from the leaders.
