Capello. He's a great catch for England. Much better than that tiresome little meglomaniac Jose who was looking to start another soap opera over his appointment. Capello's cv is amazin' and his apple juice is fab aswell

For £16 million quid over 4 years, Capello will either save English football or be its most spectacular failure ever. The fact he doesn't speak English is not a problem. It never hindered Graham Taylor.

The best thing about Capello is that he does not give a s**t about 'names' check out his time at Real Madrid for proof of that. He picks the best team.

Now we have sorted out the manager position we can focus one the campaign to give Steve McClaren a public lashing the ruining the summer of every bloke in England.

Brian: Thank goodness that's over.
Hopefully everyone will forget about that 'roots and branches' stuff.
Now we can get back to hibernation mode.

Trevor: 'Nother mince-pie, Brian ?

Well Capello is no doubt the best man for the job. People who say he isn't good enough or he's foreign, are morons. I'd rather have a manager that's one numerous serie A titles, 2 La Ligas, 2 European Cups; than a manager that's one a league Cup or an intertoto cup. What he did for Real Madrid last season, was quite staggering, and he still got sacked, which is more a reflection of how pathetic Real Madrid are.

I look forward to seeing his team selection.

However, for £16m he better be bloody worth it!

With his CV, and the English expectation there's little margin for error.

Every English football manager has now been told that they are not capable of taking charge of the best footballers in the country and take them to the finals of a world or european competition. A sad day for English football. I am sure Capello is excited about his new job and the Sven type salary.

Please god the FA have insigated a clause that should he be sacked as a result of failure they dont have to continue paying out. It isnt the case in most other jobs so why is it for the England manager?

at last an england manager with an actual GENUINE track record. I remember his Milan's team demolition of the great Barca side in 1994. Still the most comprehensive destruction of a world class team i have ever seen. If anyone is looking for a masterclass in how to dismantle the best, you would do best in finding a video of this. That Barca side had just won the primera liga in devastating style, with the likes of romario, stoichkov etc. Then they came up against a capello milan team that had won the serie a with only one defeat i believe. Yet they were the underdogs. They came up against a cocky barca (that had beaten Man U 4-0 that season) and crushed them into the dirt 4-0 as well. Cappelo at his finest.

I am sad that the FA had an opportunity to appoint a british manager 18 months ago and they selected the worst candidate out of those available. This means that they will probably not be able to take that risk again in the future so we will have to go for a safe option to cover themselves, as with Capello.

GD Do you remember that the FA were not going to rush into making an appointment, and they are meant to be making radical changes to the football set-up in England ?

Now we've got a foreign manager how about a rule which says we can also field some foreign players. Or to make it a bit harder, the foreign players must be able to speak their native language with a northern accent. I mean why bother having a national squad if we can't have an English manager?

Villainorbit. I'm not saying that any England managers are as bad as McLaren, fact is McLaren was by far the least qualified British manager to take the job in the first place. They only gave it to him because he had a jammy run in the Uefa Cup, he was always a terrible manager. McLaren was the guy who had a season ticket thrown in his face, and fielded 11 englishman that lost 7-0 to Arsenal. I don't think any manager in England let alone the Faroe Islands is as bad as McLaren.

The fact of the matter is though, Capello is the most qualified manager available. Hopefully qualifications, which McLaren didn't have (or get), may mean better results.

your logic is stupid. why not have no foreign players in any league in English football because we are in England? lol

I do agree they have rushed it all a bit, but they have obviously made a gd choice this time, and atleast now he can start to build the team that will win is things.

Whilst Capello is probably the best qualified manager for the job, there are also lots of French and Italian players who are better qualified than the shower we have running around in england shirts. . . but oh wait, they can't play because they are not English - so why should Capello be allowed to manage !

A National team should be just that !

This chap may well have had success in Italy & Spain but that's at club level. I'm not sure that he is the best man for the job and I am, quite frankly, disgusted that we cannot find an Englishman for this prestigious job.

Capello would have been my first choice. When Milan won the Scudetto 5 times in a row under him, they were frightningly clinical. His record speaks for itself, he's won 9 championships in 16 seasons and will mould England into a force to be reckoned with.
