he's got no chance

starting a new job at a new club where the only man who supports you is the chairman, and all the customers hate you?

he'll be out by christmas

stecoop22 - I too have been looking for positves and came up with the same as you, which ain't great!

However, if the appointment is made we should support Megson and the players - that doesn't mean we have to support the Board, but during each game we give the Manager and the players all our support.

If, in time, the results are not improved then we can pick on Megson but until he has had a go then we need show our support.

Save any protests to before/after the game and aimed at the Board not the Manager and Players.

hmmm yes......posibly the most bizarre and clueless appointment this season. i would have thought you wanted jewell but maybe he just wasnt up for another relegation battle. (i'm a forest fan by the way so have witnessed Megson first hand)

He is not that bad.....Actually he is worse. Suffered him for 18mnths in which time I saw the worst, inept and down right disgraceful performances from my team ever.

Good luck, you'll need it. But I suppose his playing style is what your use to so there is hope......

Megson and Anelka at the same club? Not for long. As a Forest fan I can't understand what your Chairman must be on. I wish you all Bolton fans well, the man will fall out with most of your team by Christmas.

i thought megson for leicester was bad, but for Bolton? Do you want to stay in the premiership next season, or are you preparing for the life in the championship as early as possible?

As a Forest fan - you boys are ruined. Relegation looms...with Megson you won't even be good enough to yoyo. Still, your ground's not full enough to warrant status is the Prem - sorry but it's true. Best of luck though.

how he gets jobs after what he did with us at Forest I do not understand. The guy's a fool. He'll drive Anelka, Diouf and Campo to the airport himself after they tell him to go and stick his inept tactics and boring football up his arse.

I have never liked Bolton because of Allardyce - I can't stand the guy - but when he left I really wanted Bolton to do well just to show that he's not that good. Now I see it as a shame that that's not happened and it turns out that Gartside has a wish to destroy his own club!

Years of good work ruined within 3 months - crazy,

Its still a baby step forward as Sammy Lee is probably the worse manager in the history of managers (and he looked like a Gerbal).

Expect an exodus in January

u can have nolan haha, 1 of the most over rated players ive seen.
Going back to the megson poit.
OK Big Sam didnt have a good Cv but we were only a Championship side then. We have moved on, we are a bigger club, if megson cant work with small players whats he goin to be like with the dioufs and anelkas, i fear for my club. When we are travelling to places like munich and the look at the manager, they are just going to say who?
i fear for my club. A man who has only won 7 out of 48 prem games cant be seen as the saviour for our season can he?
i wish him well but there ya go

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA UNLUCKY! I THOUGHT SPURS WERE IN A BAD SITUATION BUT COME ON!!!!!!

fact megson has only won 15% of his premier league games! even jol has a better record than that. neh i love the dutch guy really lol. but then agen megson was with west brom and to be honest they are very very poor.

going slightly off topic i had a argument with an arsenal fan about how they will suffer because of the winter and he said name some of the players. well i'm gonna name the countries they come from

spain, france, ivory coast, brazil. very very warm contries mr arsenal fan!

anyway back on to bolton. very sad to se the situation their in they were such a great team with a great manager (big sam) i hope they dont get relegated but if spurs stay up at the expense of bolton then il be happy lol

good luck guys

Its not the appointment that I wanted but as has been pointed out earlier, Megson has never worked with the quality that Bolton have at the moment. Lets not be too hasty & at least give the man a chance first. We have had a rotten run but so have the teams above us as they are still within reach.

I really can't see that any Bolton fans would be happy with Megson - id like to hear from anyone who is!!! The fact is that he did such a bad job at West Brom in the prem, that even Bryan Robson was able to come in and do a better job. He was garbage at Forest, and then had 5 weeks at Leicester... what has he done to prove himself???

I think some Forest fans are a bit harsh on Megson. If I had to put up with the kind of lazy, talentless squad we had under his reign, I would have left before chucking out time. Having said that, he didn't exactly spark the team into life and should be held partly responsible for our current position, and I too cannot understand how he has got back to the Premiership so quickly.
I am surprised Bolton are doing so poorly, and even more that the biggest mercenary in the history of France, Anelka is still there. I really don't think Meggo will achieve anything with Bolton and just goes to show the plight they've taken, appointing someone who in every respect will just try and save them from relegation except pushing for the success they had under Big Sam.

Big Sam was not a failure. He wasnt binned by 2 clubs before briefly doing nothing with another. He was doing good work with Notts County.

This is a rediculous appointment and I think Bolton have condemned themselves to the Championship. Expect to see Anelka in a City or United shirt in 2008.

every now and then, in this already peculiar game called football, something happens which makes everybody think wtf is going on ?!?

is he Gartside's lost son ( one would assume illegitmate , as sex with a camel is rather frowned upon in today's society ) and he wants him to inherit the empire that is BW ?

the only shining light about all this - at least it wasn't Souness !!!!

Woeful appointment - he won't last the season. He is a very poor man's Allardyce. He won't ruffle as many feathers at Bolton as he did at Forest as Bolton fans will be more accostomed to watching hoofball. It should also be noted how disrespectful he was to Leicester after they brought him back into football after 18 months in the wilderness. Despicable.

I don't understand why someone won't give Mike Newell a chance - he did a cracking job at Luton until he was forced to sell all his decent players.

Bolton have done all the hard work of being promoted to the premiership, then surviving in the premiership and finally competing for a European spot over the last 10 years, then they seem to have thrown all this hard work away in the last 6 months with ridiculus managerial appointments. What is Gartside thinking? Surely there are better managers available.

Albion fan here.(in peace).
Dont be too hasty about knocking Gary Megson. After all the only thing Big Sam had to his credit was that he had been reserve team coach at West Brom.
You may not like his style of play, but he will stop you shipping goals and keep you in the top flight. He gave us some good times and got us promoted twice - so we have better memories than the Forest fans, however you should temper their comments with the facts that nearly all managers since Old Big Head have failed them.
Most Baggies fans would wish Sir Gary all the best, he is certainly a better choice than Souness, and i think that the comments about losing fans is only a sad indicement on the state of the game today. If you support your team it doesn't matter who the manager, the board or the players are - its the club that counts and the only constant is the supporters. You will always attract glory hunters when you are doing well - but they soon vanish on cold winter nights against poor opposition. Make the most of your situation and all the best for the future

Clearly Gary Megson was not going to be a popular choice but he's here and unlike our last appointment he's at least got some managerial experience. But let's face it, who else were we likely to get at this stage, when propping up the league with quarter of the season gone? We should have been looking for the right man at the end of last season when the job looked attractive (top 7 finish, UEFA place, transfer window ahead) but Gartside et al just handed the job to Sammy Lee. Gartside is an idiot and should go. Good luck to Gary Megson though - I think he may need it!

big sam had made steady progress at every club he had been to before Bolton, plus he made you a prem club, back then you were nobody.. thats slightly different to megson making a complete mess at forest, being out of a job for 18 months, walking out of a club who took a gamble on him and gave him a second chance, and taking over an established prem club!!

Everyone slagged of Robson when he joined the Baggies, and look what he did for them! Both had failed at previous clubs.

Anyway, with Bolton in that position, who would come in and take over? At least now you actually have a guy who's managed a club or two!

Give it time, and he may suprise you...

I hate it when a club shows lack of ambition (I cant talk because of Avram Grant went after Mourinho)

But when you have a Manager like Allerdyce or Curbishley leave a club to step up their career, I guess the best thing the club should do is to show that they are willing to take the next step upwards....

Look at Chalton - Curbishley left they went for Iian Dowie (ambitious? YES/NO)

Look at West Ham - Redknapp was sacked replaced him with Glenn Roeder (ambitious? YES/NO)

Look at Fulham - Sacked Colemann brought in the guy obsessed with Irish players (ambitious? YES/NO)

Bolton - Big Sam left for a new Challenge, guess what they brought in a relegation specialist! (ambitious? YES/NO)

I know at times like this you've always got to look for the positives in a new appointment; something to get you geee'd up and thinkin, "Come on, now we turn the corner"!
Unfortunately for Trotters fans I see nothing but corner after corner being turned so you're endlessly going round the block with Megson in charge!!!
Yes I am biased! This is the man that effectivley was brought in to steer my beloved Nottingham Forest away from relegation out of The Championship and instead cemented us in League One.
I think the problem was passion.
Megson's got spades of it, but just seemed to channel it in the wrong way.
Megson always seemed to me to equal anger and I think this was summed up when after defeat at Yeovil he allowed supporters into the dressing room to tell the players what they thought. Interesting idea, but all it achieved was bewildered supporters and all dressing room respect gone!
Megson would probably argue he's a bit of a maverick, but obviously judging by his time at Leicester, not a very loyal one either.
He never played with any real quality either which was always a problem Trentside with us still in our Cloughie hangover.
He was fortunate we had David Platt before him or I would proudly call him one the worst manager we'd had in the last ten years!
I just hope for Bolton's sake that none of you start getting invites into the dressing rooms at The Reebok, because that's the start of the end as far as I'm concerned!

I am a Leicester fan and i feel sorry for Bolton. Megson has no passion or loyalty to a club at all i fort he would of stayed at Leicester as we gave him a chance back into football management. Like most Leicester of the fans i didn't want him in the first place his football is boring as he will take his 3-5-2 to Bolton and take them down.
