What has gone wrong with Presteigne and Llanfyllin this season?

posted Sep 11, 2007

Think the one club registration has affected a number of clubs. Guilsfield have taken a number of players from llanfyllin. Icant see anyone stopping aber res. I think Newbridge will be the surprise of the season with a top three finish.

Looks like being very close at the top between about 6 or 8 teams. Question is, can anyone stop Aber racing away with it?

not sure if newbridge will be top three, however, they have comfortably beaten caersws and presteigne already, must say very dissapointed with caersws, presteigne need to improve drastically if they are to push for honours

I think its going to be a strange league this year. Aber will win it comfortably, with TNS i guess finishing second. All to play for after that. It will be closer down the bottom than the top. How many relegated this year? Tywyn have had a quiet start and i dont think big spending carno will remain down there. Bow street have picked up good results so have a chance of doing well. Llanfyllin will struggle i think along with Kerry. Hopefully we will be ok.

I think you are punching above your weight!!!! Newbridge have a good team, but rely on ginger's pace, and think yo will find most teams win their home games!!! wait to you play those teams away!!! Especially as Presteigne had to get to you mid week, for a 6.30 k.o!!! You did not agree to play away for a 7.30pm k.o, wonder why? And Presteigne were robbed of penalty at the end!! (Beating Aber though, was impressive! they look the best, early days yet!

Yea, not like Newbridge to be awkward now is it. There are certain clubs who do anything they can to get an advantage. Apparently it's quite common for clubs to try to out do each other in this way in the Mid Wales League South, so you can see where the mentality comes from. Hope they can develop a sense of give and take to go along with their recent form.

What a blow for presteigne with Adriano breaking his leg in the 4 2 win at Knighton here,s wishing him a speedy recovery undoubtably one of best players to grace Llanandras Park

Toblerone- the fixture was at Newbridge so they were not going to agree to switch to Presteigne. And I think you will agree that it was a fair result. If you had someone with Gingers pace in your team i think you would use him! Sorry about Adriano, wish him a speedy recovery very good player and nice bloke.

fair point goalagame, but you would think that the league would use their noggin's when arranging mid week games. The week before we had to get to kerry and k.o at 6.30!!! we started with 9 men, the rest of us turned up as they had just kicked off. We do have to work for a living! We have no home game then for 3 weeks since that game, work that out! Moving on, Very sad about adriano, we all at the club wish him a speedy recovery, he is quite down, understandably, hopefully we can get some positive results to cheer him up! Undoubtably huge miss for us!! Would like to say thankyou for Knighton Towns understanding, and support at the time, and well wishes after the game.
However, i must say that Aaron Stewarts behaviour and attitude was absolutely disgusting, commenting throughout how happy he was our manager had broke his leg, in 15 years of playing, i never met such a thug. Hope Knighton deal with him accordingly!!!! Maybe its the jealousy of him being such a poor centre half, and adriano a quality one.

I think its brilliant that a small village like newbridge is up there with the so called "big clubs". Just shows from recent results that newbridge is a hard place to come and get any sort of result. Also well done to the reserve team who have had a creditable start to their first season and are combining with the 1st team to put the best side out possible for each team. Well done the bridge for a good start in both league, keep it going!

the daff, wot do you mean by "give and take", name me a club which would want to switch a fixture from playing at home to having to travel away, Presteigne wanted to change to 7.30 kick off to enable players to be availabble after work !! i must agree that no thought goes into the fixture list

Just like to re-iterate what a lost Adriano is going to be as a player to Presteigne. Top quality knowledgable ability on the pitch and even better off it. Having been there myself, I wish him a speedy recovery back to full fitness ASAP. On behalf of the PSAFC committee, supporters, players and friends all the best Adj. Hopefully we will see you on the touchline soon managing.
As for Aaron, then let's be honest I didn't expect anything different than what he said. A jealous footballer, who would struggle against top class strikers. Oh he did as Presteigne scored four!!

another win for Newbridge, wot a fantastic start for them, after watching them toward the end of last season, they really have settled to the Spar, and will take some beating at home ,a nd should finish top five with ease, and for a little village, it is tremendous to see them fielding two sides made of all local boys, well done Newwbridge, showing those so calles "big guns" how it should be done

Looking at the fixtures for this weekend, there is one game that catches my eye and what a game it will be at Newbridge when they host Tns Res this saturday. I can imagine Tns will make it very tough for Newbridge but on Newbridges recent form i feel they have a squad now capable of getting the 3 points! Anybody have a view on that?

My predictions for the forthcoming weekend :-

Llani 1 Caersws Res 2

What about a prediction for the Welsh Cup match between Tywyn/Bryncrug and Conwy United. Should be a tough match for the Spar mid Wales side but a big incentive to do well and get a good draw in the next round with a few more coffers in the bank for the club.

Thought Caersws Res. were very lucky at Llani on friday night. Nice to see some of the old boys back and in good humour. Hopefuly the lads can get back on track now after a cuple of lessons from a couple of good sides. I really hope that we stuff Carno on Saturday. Cant stand them and there sloping field. doesn't say much for john davies coaching skills when there at the bottom of the league after splashing all that cash.
