i hope the scousers get the triple that has eluded the mancs/russians 4 so long; just 4 the comedic value.

arsenal wont win the league 4 a long time yet cos their bunch of spoilt brats will probably decide they deserve better wages wen they get older (when their voices break).

torres is shear class. xabi alonso first goal was a total fluke but everyone was first class today. we are top and we're staying there. torres could beat the england team 6-0 on his own.

rafa, buy owen, we may not be in need of a striker but he is top class.

I had predicted a 7-0 thrashing. These are the sort of games to make up goal differences. If we keep the monentum going, we should be there or thereabout. The next 5 games look winnable as well.

6-0 without gerrard + carra! now thats strength in depth. i bet chelsea wouldn't do that without terry + lampard

We'd stay there too if Chelsea hadn't had the Ref playing for them a couple of weeks ago and gifting penalties against us that even he has now apologised for! I won't be bitter unless at the end of the season they're above us by a couple of points, but if we can be big enough to forget it, maybe they'll stop banging on about the CL they were 'robbed of' a couple of years ago...

"shame it only lasts for 24 hours as chelsea plays tomorrow."

Very possibly. But you never know...! And besides, they will have an excuse, as they will have played one more game than us, so it's not entirely fair to compare.

"Its amazingly premature but its nice to be top"

I totally agree. No-one can know what will happen in the coming months. But we can enjoy it now, while it lasts. And now with this massive goal difference lead, we have something to fall back on if, in coming games, we don't score as many goals.

"wow ur top its not end of the season ... its the start "

Exactly. And what a great way to start! Just shows that the Liverpool team really is as good as us fans always insist and that all Rafa's money-spending has actually done some good!

Very nice to be laying down real intentions from the off, whether it be robbed of a win against Chelsea or winning against the 'lesser' teams this will serve as the platform we haven't had for many seasons. Too soon for sure, but that's better than too late.
Oh, and there's a certain Stevie G getting some rest while this is going on too - can't be bad, eh? =)

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed...

BUT WE'RE TOP OF THE LEAGUE! :-)

Torres for Prime Minister! :-D

But, more seriously, we have to maintain this form through 34 more games - and we have do what Chelsea do oh so well, grind out the win even when we're playing poorly.

The start is only the first test to see if we deserve the title...

But...

Still...

TOP. OF. THE. LEAGUE.

Took the words out of my mouth, no disrespect to derby, but we should be winning them anyway, its games away at Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U that will decide whether we will win the league.

But taking off my pesemistic hat its nice to see us hit the ground running and very nice to see all the new boys getting off the mark.

Keep it up LFC <ok>

-----------------------

Ignorant idiot. A/ How the hell can you compare a bloody PENALTY to a freekick that needed an EXCELLENT finish to score? B/ Obviously you saw 3 incidents from that entire game to come out with any kind of crap to suggest we deserved any less than a win anyway - Villa were crap. C/ I'd say let's see what happens when those kind of pens are given out week after week - but then you seem to be Arse so you already do see them dished out on a weekly basis.

6-0 but can you maintain a game at that pace for another 50 games I saw xabi and gerrard and torres and they looked wasted in the last 10 minutes

If derby though there was any point in attacking they could have scored 2 goals in the last 15minutes but they had given up

All that effort huffing and puffing but i think chelsea will win it cruising and relaxing the art of winning is not trying to win but winning effortlessly that is the art of chelsea

------------------------------------------
Of course we can, that is exactly why we have a great chance this year. If Xabi and Gerrard are tired we'll bring in Sissoko and Mascherano. If Torres is tired, play Voronin or Crouch. We have two players for every position on the pitch and Rafa's rotation policy is designed to keep the players fresh

Hey LFC fans lets not get too excited. We are top yes but lets try and stay there. Today was a good result with some of our key players missing (Gerrard, Carra, etc) and we coped very well but we were expected to win this game today. Our new signings seem to be settling so lets see how it all unfolds.

Great result, yes it's only Derby, but we can only beat the team we are playing. And yes it's only early in the season, but better to be top then where Man U are.

I wish our fans would stop banging on about the penalty-that-wasn't. Have you forgotten one of the most basic rules, the referee is always right, regardless of whether it seems correct or incorrect. Just as if the referee decides to award a penalty if a player is fowled on the halfway line, then it is still a penalty.
