Good player.

Unfortunately for Arteta, Spain have a surplus of quality MF's

Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Albeda, Joaquin, Vicente, Silva, Raul Garcia, Alonso etc

Order of them by selection (in my opinion)
1. Xavi
2. Iniesta
3. Arteta
4. Cesc
5. Alonso

For CM that is, he's better than Joaquin, Vicente and Silva. Silva will be class though!

How is he better? He's a better CM than Joaquin, Vincente, Silva etc, but you can't play with 4 CM's. The likes of Joaquin, Vicente & Silva provide natural width.

Also Spain usually play with a DM (Albelda) so they only really have 2 CM positions.

4-3-3 formation.

Don't get excited - The spurs defence is not leaky, and spurs at home are capable of hammering teams, as you have found out when visiting white hart lane.

Leaking a goal to chopra is not the best way to back up that argument, Spurs have been moaning about gardner etc on the Tottenham board since the game finished.

COYBs, good start to the season!

Hi i am a wigan fan

i think what was missing was that the pace
at the back, arteta was going pass the defence every time he got the ball so what i think we need is a fast left back and a new fast centreback we could do with someone from japan or korea or south america i think cause if you get any good player from these areas you now his going to be cheap and this areas are good cause the players are deducated to football have a good decipline speacialy in korea or japan but as long as some good comes in am happy also we need a new striker like santa cruz or johnson we need someone that wil cause problems up front we need someone who is fast and has a good finish so that we can make team run cause at the minute we havnet got people that will run at team and that why we need to play a slow game and if we could get mid aswell with the same quality and this one we could cause upsets to good teams

i think a good line up for wednesday
would be

kirkland
melchiot
granqvist
bramble [ we need
if we no new left back then kilbane again
valencia
lanzaat
scharner
koumas
aghahowa
camara

subs
------
pollit
hall
brown
sibierski
heskey or folan

We both conceded goals today, wigan arent exactly the most powerful attacking force.

But, well done on your win, but i think thats the least you expected.

And as for arteta, he is one of the most under rated players in the league. If he was playing for any of the top four, and performing to the same standard, people would be saying he is world class.

Like when we hammered you at WHL last season? With 10 men?

hammering?

you call winning 2-0 a hammering?

I guess that shows the difference in standards between the two teams.

It was the least I was expecting, but you can't say you weren't expecting a win against Sunderland today?

Sunderland played very well, everyone will have a hard game against them at the stadium of light, but imo your defense wasn't the biggest problem you had this lunchtime.

Franky four

I'm not getting carried away with anything spurs defence is dodgy no ledley and no dawson it's a good time to play them.

Personally don't rate Dawson anyway wouldn't even start for us before Lescott, yobo, jags and if that's who spurs think is the answer you'll be in more trouble like today.

Sure everyone knows you have talented forwards but you'll never finish top 4 with that defence a top 4 team scores last minute winners at places like sunderland not walk away with nought.

And if your going tuesday night the fella in the blue shirt dark with dark hair who won't give you your ball back that's MIKEL ARTETA THE BEST LITTLE SPANIARD WE KNOW!!!!!!!

Hammerings arent always reflected in scorelines. We absolutely dominated you and this was after we had a player sent off.

I think what shows the difference between our two sides is that we actually broke into the top 4 and you choked twice.

Our defence actually played fine, especially as we was missing king, dawson and bale and kaboul at debut.

But you are right, our problem today was our attack, which is why i am not concerned, as that is our main strength.

All that happened, is we had an off day.

No need to get dramatic over it.

When everton finished 4th, how many points did you finish with?

Less points then the spurs teams which have finished 5th in the past two seasons, which shows the standard has increased and spurs have improved, while everton have struggled.

Oh YES - The Toffees are off to a smiley start and Goodison Park is being made a true fortress. Good luck to you hopefuls coming to Everton's home but the Blueboys at their place are going to be breaking your hearts this season. Well done to David M. too - his 200th league match celebrated with a home win

What is it with some of our fans and most Spurs fans? We got into the top 4....regardless of an increse in standard etc, you didn't. As for our fans, theres no point provoking them or even arguing your case because all you get is a load of excuses.

EFC should have bought Koumas when he was available from Tranmere.
Same as Dave Nugent , another Everton fan when he was available at Preston for a bargain buy.
Why do the clubs these days panic buy instead of invest ?? Wev'e had the opportunity and missed one or two but we should keep looking to invest in english youth.

First half Arteta was class and he should of had a penalty from where i was positioned. How people say that he shouldn't get in the Spanish team need to actually watch him play, hes world class and the best spaniard in the premiership. He could easily get into any other team in the premiership. As for the match i thought it was comfortable but sat back when i thought they where there for the taking. We desperately lack creativity and pace in the middle of the park and we still play too long balls. Pienaar looks neat and tidy and never gave the ball away aswell as having a big part in our second goal. Anichebe done well but needs to challenge for headers more.

Don't get carried away. Who do you think Arteta can replace on the Spanish national side? Clearly most of you don't watch the La Liga. I suggest you watch it for a season, study the various Spaniards for yourself (not news from someone else) then come and tell us who exactly Arteta would replace. Don't get me wrong, he is a good player but Spain is very competitive with their youth sides constantly developing new talent.

Not an Everton or Sheffield United fan but saw them play each other at Bramall Lane last season, and Arteta was a class apart. He really stood head and shoulders above the other 21 players on the pitch. Quality player!

I think totenham's midfield is rather weak. If they were to challenge the top four they would have to improve it. Their strikers are excellent though.

im a forest fan, and went with a season ticket holder to see everton on saturday as he had a spare seat going. Arteta is so consistant, and is being overlooked not just by spain, but by the BBC. Arteta was a class apart on saturday, wigan were scared of him, and some the skill he pulled out was just plain silly. The man is a footballing genius, and a great by Moyes. He prob wouldnt break into the spainish midfield, but he should at least be the on the bench, and given a go in friendlies etc. He was one of the best players in the premiership last season and thats a fact. (look it up) but totally agree, Arteta should be playing champions league football. (no offence toffee fans)

good game though, you'll be in top 8 no worries.

Completely agree. Andy Gray and the like would be dribbling all over him if he played for Liv, ManU, Arse or Che......it does my head in.
