Brit-Watch: Rome Masters

This match is gone, probably 6-1 this set now. Tim just couldn't hang in there when the 1st set got to the business end <doh>
Bring on Muzza now <cool>

Henman saves a break point to at least get to deuce.

Having just posted that Henman looses serve. Almagro will serve for the match at 5-1.

I have no idea Nameless One. As a fairly infrequent poster my posts have to go through pre mod for the time being. Perhaps they are just posting them quickly, I'm not sure.

Poor Tim . He needs to start playing the smaller tournaments now instead of saving himself for the Masters and Slams where no doubt he will face Federer in the early rounds.
I would love to see him do that. It makes sense.
Anyway off to see which match they are showing next on Sky

Well I suppose that result was to be expected really, a bit of a shame that Henman didnt make more of a fight of the second set though.

Well he's not going to play the smaller events on clay, no point in that. He should play an event like Nottingham before Wimbledon this year though

Every point I think.
Has anybody just watched the Federer interview? Talking about his clay season , Nadal and the F.O ? Interesting stuff.
Nadal has also just been interviewed. Now its showing last years highlights in the final

Not once did Federer complain about Nadal . In fact he was full of praise for him as a top Sportsman , Tennis player and Master of the clay. I think he is quite in awe of him on the clay. But he wants it bad does Federer.

Suprise , Suprise. They are showing a doubles match as the main feature!!!! Fed /Warwinka V Nadal / Moya. Need to interact to see a singles match

How very rare to see this line up. I cannot remember the last time sky showed a doubles match as the main event. And how strange for Federer and Nadal to be facing each other so early on. Round 1 !! Moya / Nadal hold !!!
1st game

More than that, as has been said before, Henman should really be playing more doubles alongside his singles.

Every point?? Which small clay event do you think he should play then, seeing as there's only one left before RG?
Clay is not his best surface, Tim doesn't intend to win his points on the red stuff.

I would have to side with Nameless One on this issue. I would presume he is entered for Hamburg next week and that will then be it before Roland Garros. At the age he is now he needs to pick and choose more, particularly on a physically demanding surface like clay.

He MUST start playing smaller tournaments in order to improve his ranking for the M.S and Slams. It is too late for the clay now but this should have happened earlier in the year.
Fed and partner have lost the 1st set to Nadal and partner. And Hewitt sems to be struggling with his 1st round match
