Can anyone else see anyone but Australia winning this final?

Don't get me wrong, Sri Lanka have a fantastic team that have really hit some form, but I just can't see further than the Aussies on this one.

Destiny, perhaps?

If Muralitharan, Malinga, Jayasuriya and Jayawardene all play at theier very best, I can see Sri Lanka winning.
However, Hayden and Ponting need to get out cheaply near the start to make life a lot easier for them.

Sri Lanka will have to play the best they have ever played and still won't get near Australia.
If things go wrong for SL the writing could be on the wall after 10 overs regardless of who bats first. My head tells me SL can't even compete with Australia let alone win but I also said there was not one chance in a million that England would win the VB in Australia. I hope I'm wrong again but I can't see it.

Both teams are highly skilled and motivated to win, but Aus has more batting firepower, with SL a slight edge in bowling. Should be a great game, but I think SL need a very good game plus an ounce of luck to lift the trophy. Aus can win on sheer class alone, as long as they do not have an off day. Let's hope this turns out to be the best match of the tournament, and may the best team win.

Game of Criket is all about style, passion, consistancy and desire to win.. All of these are filled in tons within Aussies as they eat breath and sleep cricket... They are true entertainers and they know how to win..
Aussies are the BEST of the BEST of the BEST...... Nomatter what is the result of today's game, One this is crystal clear that They are the True Champions ( even if Srilanka win today )
Today's match is the match bring it on....cant wait...

Australia haven't just won every game so far, they have flattened the opposition and will be looking to do the same today.

However, if there is one team that doesn't give a hoot about past form or reputations, it's Sri Lanka. It's hard to see them caving in on the big stage. With a team packed full of intelligent, adaptable players they'll give us a damn good run for our money.

I still see an Australia victory on the cards today, but am happy to see the best team win on the day.

I can see it now! And perhaps the Australians can too!...Sri Lanka make a modest 250; Australia get to 240-2 with plenty of overs left. At this stage the bookies offer 200/1 for a Sri Lankan win. Whoops! Suddenly the Aussies start losing wickets and miraculously lose. Sniff, sniff! I smell a rat.

We should win but then again Liverpool should have beaten Wimbledon in '88. Funny things can happen in finals so I'll wait and see what happens.

Without an Australian coach, Sri Lanka would never be in this position. I mean both 1996 and 2007. Thank you Australia.

If Srilanka win it will be good as it would be great to see an upset but I have to say that if Aussies win they are deserving champions because they have been simply outstanding in this tournament.

SL need to win the toss and put the aussies in....Barbados is the only pitch that hasnt slowed up as time went on...its moved all over the place at the start too(NZ v SA)... if they contain australia to under 260 they have a chance..

if on the flip side aus put SL in....could see another top order taken apart with the new ball...

I take Australia to win a close match (it's about time we had one in an important game).

Why is this article the "Managers Pick" (the lack of an apostrophe is the BBC’s), by the way? It has no particular merit and tells us nothing we didn’t know already.

I agree with you DL.

Why can't I write an article and tag it with an eye catching "P" in a yellow circle then rate it 5 stars, then post it in the Aus and SL sections and have it mutually update.

Bloody brilliant Beeb, looks like this is THE BLOG today.

Since 1996 the Sri Lankans have come long way forward and they have mental strength to topple Ausies regardless of their dominance in the game. I believe Sri Lankans would easily defeat Ausies and snatch the 2007 Cricket World Cup

Jayasuriya and Hayden to score half centuries.
Murali, Malinga and Tait to shine.
Tait to get figures of 3-47 off ten overs

That is a beauty, Skippy. What a laugh.

I will try, but it might come down to pacing the floor while listening. Actually, it would be good if it does as none of the others have.

I wish Punter wouldn't smile in photos. It doesn't look right.

I reckon this is gonna be a fantastic match ( well we certainly need one ) Ive found this WC to be quite dull at times with the majority of the matches being a one sided affair..c-mon sri lanka topple the Aussies, if they do theyre gonna have to play out there skins...bucket falls of possitive batting and shed loads of mind blowing bowling. It'll be a refreshing change to see it !!!!!!!!An aussie defeat that is..

How the teams have played in the previous world cup matches means nothing today. There are just two hugely talented teams in a one-off game to become world champions.

Australia are favourites but if SL win the toss then I'd say it is 50/50.

Australia may be a highly professional outfit but Sri Lanka oozes class and artistry. If SL post a score of 260 + and remove Ponting, the hugely fortunate batsman in the world now (because often somebody drop a catch or miss a run out against him) within 5 mts into the crease Aussies will be tested to the core.

Dear BBC

Thanks indeed for keeping us passionate on cricket world cup almost two months.Your effort deserves a big thank you but ironically we should accept that your biasness. Some used these pages to attack soverign SL & its team with hidden political motives, with false, fabricated allegations that SL will not reach finals due to .... ....etc

But we did not see, true picture rectifying responses getting the same publicity.Hour has come for those culprits to hide the tail inside the legs.

BBC keep up your good work independently..we love you

Maybe we have our first 20-20 WC final already!
