Must say, I don't get the point of this article.

First time I've heard this guy's name before.

I agree Ryan.
Seems to me to be a useless waste of CyberSpace.

2 points

1 - why does every England manager bring some fruit cake along with them for the ride??

2 - you did not get the interview - which sort of made writing the article a pointless exercise, or did you think if you wrote a nice piece now the FA would give you the interview next time? then you are gonna knife him in the back? brillant journalism!

This new 606 format is terrible. It hasn't stimulated sporting debate at all - it's just provided an opportunity for people to slag off perfectly adequate journalism. How can this non-threatening article stir up so many vitriolic comments?

The best Sports Physchologist that ever was involved in Football was Bill Shankly.
His education was very limited and yet had a very good Knowledge of the wonderful game of Football.
Some of these modern day Coaches/Managers are not fit to be mentioned in the same Breath as Shankly, Paisley, Busby. Nicholson, and Clough.
Mclaren has a huge lack of Character and to even think of struggling against Macedonia with the Squad he has stinks of pessimism or negativity. How about telling the England players to play with passion and belief in their ability to destroy Teams that should not be on the same Pitch !
How does one keep the faith with England when such managers keep emerging ?

Well DUH! You expect every manager to be a footballing genius? If Steve McClaren isn't that good obsiously he needs help. Makes sense to me.

McClearn's problem is he is worried too much about his media image.

All he cares about is keeping the public on side. it will never work. only results will show us.

and that could take years to be conclusive.

by then it will be too late.

I feel like punching the TV when he is talking - he is so smarmy and slimy.

As for the Barwick guy - if he is so top why were boro so rubbish , and why did Fergie let McClearn take him away from United?

Smells like the next Elene Durary to me!

Hear Hear on the last comment about Mclaren.
Can we start a post for getting 'Steve Coppell' as England manager ?
He is a Class act and was also a Class player.
His apprenticeship is over and should be the England Manager.

Why not, because I have other things to do than post stuff on the 606 message board? Does the fact that you guys are on here all the time give you some kind of superior insight into the workings of a sports psychologist? There you go, now I've posted two messages.

why not?

my vote at the time was for Redknapp.

but we got the guy who had only been a manger for 5 years and had very very little sucess.

brillant by the FA!!!

At least Coppell knows about promotions, relegations, glory cup runs ect...

Who gets the top job after 5 years of being average?????????

No one rates McClearn, the best he can get is from the "give him a break" brigade.

nah it is cause sometimes you get accounts with only one comment ever made and they are things like "606 is brillant" or "this guy knows what he is talking about and everyone else is wrong"

these tend to be phantom account created by people to give the impression that their opinion is supported by more people than it really is.

apart from that i reckon everyone's point of view is as valid as the next man, just be prepared to fight your corner!

I dont care if McClearn has Jesus as his assistant - he is not the best man for the job and he is obbessed with selfimage which is very off putting.

I agree with the McClaren view but isn't the underlying problem the fact that most people probably wouldn't want the england job so we end up with the best of what's left (or, having ruled out Alladyce, O'Neil and Curbiushly, the most mediocre of what's left?) I've no doubt it would seem attractive at first but after two or three months of being a genius every time we win and up for the sack every time we loose and, to be honest, having nothing much to do most of the time anyway, anyone decent would probably rather be somewhere else wouldn't they?

England players have been performing as though they have a shrink on their backs.
Duh - They HAVE!
Doesn't seem to work, just like it didn't work at Boro.
Not really rocket science is it?
Dump the shrink and let the players be free to play!
