I'd like to see our win % when both Hibbo and Osman start. I reckon its surprisingly high.

No way I can be arsed to work it out though.

Hibbo is a quality old fashioned RB. Liverpool paid 18 million for an RB that's not half as good a defender as Hibbo. Seems in the modern day though that full backs need to be able to prance down the live and whip a cross in after skinning two players-and with the best will in the world that's not Hibbo. When it comes to defending his position he's top class though.

Er unless its an FA cup final in which case he gets turned inside out by a halfway decent left winger!.

I respect Hibbo as much as the next guy but he's got very little in his game other than that conviction to get whatever part of his anatomy is closest in the way of the ball.

His distribution is getting better and he can be seen bombing on forward now. Thing is he was woeful before so any improvement is massive for the lad!. He's an adequate right back and thats about all you can say.

I think he's a very good squad player for us and if we're wanting to improve in the long run, we need a better RB. But he has definately played well since he's come back in the team. He did get a torrid time in the FA cup final but whenever we played Man U, he always had Ronaldo in his pocket.

What a load of nonsense! He's a good, solid defender who gives his all for the club. He had a bad time against Chelsea...but I've seen Baines have games where he's been skinned plenty too. He's not the best player we have but he's certainly good enough to step up when he's called upon

Its nonsense but nowhere do you actually disagree with anything I've written Phil?.

Baines has been skinned but, as I said, Baines has more to his game than getting his backside between the ball and the goal. Attack is the best form of defence etc?.

Thats the point, as others have stated, all Hibbo has done for years is the traditional full back job and you'd have thought he'd get shot if he crossed the halfway line!. Thats changing, again as I said, and he is getting better, but, if we want to be challenging for top honours or playing in the Champs League we need more from an RB than Hibbo offers.

I get the whole cult thing and I love the fact that the lad is blue to the core, but, he's still a squad player not 'different class'.

Imagine what kind of player the Baines/Hibbo lovechild would be!

I've been very critical of him, he is defending very well though at the moment but I think he is getting extra help from Neville and Jags meaning players aren;t afforded the time to attack the space in behind him where his lack of pace would really let us down. SOlid player though and someone I wouldn;t mind coming on or filling in in a crisis

Steve

You said he was 'woeful' mate. That's what I didn't agree with. I'm not saying he's Champions League quality or anything daft. But he's a decent PL player. For a stand-in RB we couldn't do too much better

Phil I said his distribution and ability to get up to provide support on the right was woeful thats all. Would you disagree?. The lad hoofed forward and passed sideways for years!.

I agree with the OP that he is improving and adding more to his game, but, from where he was any improvement along those lines is going to look dramatic.
