I wanted him more than Torres.
Great signing.
Is he as good/better than Carvalho at the same age?

Hello again No Na SLB! smiley

It would appear we are doing a lot of business with your club lately. Ramires, and now Luiz. Word over here is he is the best young centre back in Europe.

I hope that the funds are being well spent - maybe, if i can be a bit cheeky, for both our benefits?

According to Abola newspaper, the deal is broken down to:

€25m + Matic + €3.5 performances + friendly in Lisbon between our clubs.

Luiz is a top player, has all the ingredients to become the best centre back in the Prem.

Started his career as a forward. I was there for his first ever game for Benfica in the UEFA Cup, and since then he has been growing and growing exponentially.

Now you have two world class Brazilians in David Luiz and Ramires.

Real Madrid will soon have our left wing fully operational, already taken Di María and probs Coentrão in the Summer.

While I am happy for them all, we also need to keep some players for a bit longer.

Can Luiz play defensive midfield? Because if all 3 of our centre-backs do somehow manage to stay fit at the same time, it would be a waste having Alex/Luiz on the bench but someone like Mikel in the starting lineup.

Don´t worry mate he´ll be well looked after here and I´m sure that Alex, Ramires and Ferreira will help him settle in at Chelsea ok.

He can, but for us he has probably played there once? So not proven or anything in that position, but his attributes allow him to do so. He gets forward often.

But a word of caution to Luiz, if he goes run abouts up front whilst he is playing DC and gets caught... make sure Terry, or someone, is there to cover. For example our defensive mid always covers when Luiz bombs forward.

And he can play left-back, but not advisable. He did so against Liverpool and Porto and we suffered 4 and 5 goals respectively, so I guess he is best suited as centre-back (maybe we suffered cuz we didn't have good cover) - at CB he is immense.

But do give him these 6 months to adapt.

He should get time to adapt. He can cover for Alex until he is back fit and then can be rotated with him as maybe we can keep Alex from getting the strains he so often gets by not playing him three times in a week.

It's a shame Matic might leave. I think he can in time become the next Ballack. Wouldn't be surprised if he is worth over £20m in a few seasons. Having said that I have only seen him play for reserves etc. I am not sure how he has done in Vitesse. All I know is he has 2nd highest game time but hasn't scored yet (he plays defensive-mid).

BREAKING REPORT:

David Luiz was at the airport in Lisbon, BUT DID NOT board the flight to London - has orders to come back.

Make this of what you will, I can't tell from truth and rumours anymore.

Could be true, why a lot of us just wait and see rather than jump the badwagon.

Not sure what could have gone wrong but only the other day we had Liverpool fans telling us Torres had sacked his agent and was about to issue a public statement saying how much he wanted to remain a red.

So maybe the deal for Luiz was just a rumour or what you are hearing is a rumour or it was decided Luiz would not get to London in time so we have people there to conclude the deal in time. We were meant to have agreed terms with him and done a medical last week before it all fell appart.

Question is have Benfica actually announced the agreement of a deal or was that just press in Portugal too?

Benfica have not announced anything, and they have the obligation to do so under the act of the Capital Securities Markets to announce if a deal has been agreed, so far, probably not?

Might be an answer from Skysport ticker: "skysports_bryan:
Transfer latest - we're told Luiz aiming to complete move to #cfc in Portugal tonight. Hasn't flown. Too close to 11pm deadline. #ssn [via Twitter]"

BBC Report:
2105: The David Luiz to Chelsea deal, by the way, looks like going through with the player completing formalities in Portugal, as opposed to London, as there was not time for the Benfica defender to fly in.

Thanks for ramires and luiz.

Comparing to the Carvalho and Ferreira deals from Porto, this deal is a bargain. David Luiz will be Brazil´s centre back for long time. He is a great player and a great lad in the dressing room too. Chelsea to win the tilte still
