Ignasi Miquel starts for Arsenal tonight. Reserve team captain, but this shouldn't be a debut game.

Arsenal could rack up a cricket score. But they shouldn't leave Ponting in charge of a funeral home because he seems to keep losing the ashes!

No he was pulled out of the squad for the Leeds game and was on the bench.

"Painful viewing" ...yet knowing Arsenal it won't be that will it? Probably just scrape a 2-1 win. We always seem to score loads of goals when we don't need to!

"Was he playing the other night when Villa scored 10?"

No. Neither the usual centre halves were, a midfielder the same height as Arshavin filled in.
Our reserves at full strength are actually not bad, top of their division even after that battering.

Paul Fletcher reports: "New Ipswich boss Paul Jewell will be watching from the stands as Town take on Arsenal. Given that Town were hammered 7-0 at Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday and the Gunners will be wary of the merits of Championship sides after their serious FA Cup scare against Leeds on Saturday, it could make for painful viewing. By the way, can anybody tell me why Jewell has not taken charge of this game?"

Easy. He doesn't want to get off to a losing start.

oh and miquel wasn't playing for our reserves when we got smashed by villa. and more than 11 players who would be in the reserves squad are out on loan... and we're still top of that league! we did get battered though :(

there's no point stating the obvious and spilling a load of cliches about respecting every team, don't take anything for granted blah blah bla. fact is if the players turn up with the right attitude we should batter them. of course there is always the chance of an upst but realistically it's a tiny chance.

Agreed, he was a great player for Lincoln/Macclesfield/Notts County etc. It comes too soon after Keith Alexander's demise. My heart and my prayers go out to his family, it is quite saddening. An eerie fact, the day Alexander passed away he gave a lift to Richard Butcher.

May they both Rest in Peace.
