The first half decision not to award a pen and send Neville off was a key event. Also, DORRANS is our pen taker, he smacked in loads last season. Why did a low on confidence Odenwingie get to take such an important penalty?

A massive decision against us. Not only should it have been a pen but ugly should have walked also but saying that, ffs, if you don't take them when THEY do come then you only have yourselves to blame. An excellent performance but felt heads and confidence dropped after that 'miss'?!? Reid and Pab worries but thought Zu done ok when he came on. SHame Moz had to drop back. Sub @ 94 mins a bit strange? Happy Ne.... ah fek it! <hangover>

dreadful display by united. neville should really not be playing premiership football, obertan poor, anderson carrick fletcher poor too. We were very lucky, def pen in 1st half. just listening to rio on sky sports even he says it should have been a pen. wba can feel robbed, the better side for the whole 90 mins

Utd look good for the title, winning without playing well and unbeaten is a sign of Champions. As a neutral heres hoping for a good race to the end though.

Utd fan here and happy for the win..but in truth we were leathered.
Outplayed and outrun for long periods, our midfield were embarassed for pace and guile!
Gary Nev has been a great player for us..but time marches on!
Remember a 6-3 defeat in 68 at the Hawthorns and a few beatings since and this could have been another.
WBA played really well and I hope they win a few and stay up..good luck for the rest of the season lads.

When you think we've beaten Arsenal 6-1 and destroyed Maradona's Barca 3-0,Roma 7-1..that 5-3 defeat is still the best game I've seen!

Indeed Utd were poor, and yet Sky give Rooney the man of the match award and big up his performance, okay it was decent but it wasn't that good. Comes in handy though for the post match interview when Fergie can use The White Pele to avoid having to talk about the rest of his team's deficiencies.

West Brom let them off the hook though, god-awful penalty, terrible technique.

Pulp-grape-

I wouldn't worry though, this can't go on for much longer with Utd playing like this. Someone's going to take them apart sooner or later. They've got it coming...perhaps at White Hart Lane.

Unlucky West Brom, you outplayed us after Rooney's goal and should have won. Neville should have walked and Brunt should have taken that penalty. Hernandez is turning into a little Solskjaer, scoring vital goals from the bench.

Good luck Baggies for the rest of the season, hope you stay up. <ok>

What a poor display from us. Really bad. I think we've only played well in 2 or 3 games this season. The rest of the time I think we truly have just been varying shades of bad. God knows how we're top of the table with games in hand and unbeaten.

The referee had a poor game today too. WBA were denied a clear penalty in the first half, and then Utd were also denied a penalty when the WBA player hit the ball out with his arm/elbow.

Unlucky WB, you played very well and were probably the better side. I'm just glad that Utd's habit of somehow grinding out results extended to this game. I don't think it will last much longer though, unless we start to play better as a team and take the chances we are given.

Not sure I can add much more to what the Utd fans have said other than...this is to anyone who watched the match..."Foy Off"! What a ref!!! He unbalanced the game by not sending the woeful Neville off and awarding a penalty fo Ode to miss! He evened it up by not award Utd one for a blatent handball but the damage was done. He seemed intent on not awrding free kicks or yellow cards until late on when he went nuts!

Oh well, I'm afraid all the praise is wearing thin now, if we play well and lose, what happens when the wheels come off? We are all too aware.

Agree that the way United are playing that someone is going to get their act together soon and take their chances....about 19 WBA efforts to United's 6....how often does that happen??

I think if Lennon gets his act together and Van De Haart is on form, the trip to WHL could be the first defeat...

Still, I'd rather lose 2-0 to Spurs than to Marseille in the CL....

Carrick?? Remember the old adage of England under Don Revie: "if only the goals were at the side of the pitch, England would win every game!"

Fergie has a golden chance of winning another league as we are at the top with a good advantage, even if we do not deserve it.But he has to get in another two experienced players to strengthen the squad. If the Glazers do not want to give him any money he should speak out.Even two on loan will do for the rest of the season. Beckham could be one of them.I think Neville should call it a day and stop playing so that we will remember him for the good times he had with United. It was a mistake to start with him today and a bigger one to replace him with a left back. Headless chickens, even if they have a good work rate, are exposed when a game is tight as it was today. Some of Kuszczak's sorties were suicidal and it is crystal clear that at the moment we have no one to replace Van der Sar. Off course we wait for the Dane....

I see the BBC continue to tell only half the story when it comes to United, much of it seems to be addressed here though. I don't know what has happened to Referee's in the English game. Seems to me that where possible results are being manipulated for Chinese betting syndicates, rich club owners, a corrupt FA or all of the above.

More likely it is just the current batch of referees don't have a proper understanding of the game. All that said the Baggies were 10 times better than United today but this is a very sad United team who'd struggle to fight their way out of a brown paper bag; the luck will run out though.

With Van der Sar, Scholes, Neville and Giggs ready to retire United need serious investment. At least 5 top class players are needed, including a keeper, or the United of the future will be fighting with Liverpool for a place in the Europa Cup. Sure hope they have 80m in the transfer kitty but I am not sure I'd trust Fergie with it.

Can't continue? U lot have been saying that since mid October.
I'm not atall happy with today or our away form in general but something has to be said about how we stil manage to pick up points playing this poorly.
What I've gathered so far is that away, we play to our appoints level. We seem to sit back, sus out how the home team is going to play and then try to do one better rather then play to our own strengths and bring the game to the opposing team.
West Brom should hold their heads up high after the performance they put in. Complete domination in just about every aspect of the match and we have the awful Foy to thank for not awarding a peno and not sending Neville for an early shower.
Gary, thank you for devout service to the club but mate, it's time to hang the boots. Take your testimonial and call it time.

Happy with the points but not much more than that. What won't go on forever is the way we've been playing. It bodes well for us that we can only get better. Now stop mucking about and let's get there, eh?

Do you really have much knowledge of the future or are you a fraud.
*The lottery numbers for the next draw please*

Their luck will run out? You are so true. If United had won 11 prem titles and sitting pretty at the top you may think different.

Not trust Fergie? Who would you trust instead?
Gary Megson, maybe?

If you were a bookie (you may be one on the verge of collapse) you may on the verge of bankruptcy!

Jealousy is so bad!

Don't think WBA were robbed, had their chances and didn't take them. Both teams should have had another penalty and the referee pulled up United on a couple of occasions for fouls from his imagination; one would have seen Berbatov free in on goal, another where two Baggies collided with each other.

This was a bad ref for both teams and we need to see proper assessment and published stats on refereeing decisions with promotion and religation. Remember United were undone by another bad decision against Birmingham, or should I say 3 in 1 stinker. Perhaps the stats should include details of the teams hard done by with such decisions, I think many would be surprised.

I don't think knowledge of the future is neccessary to see that United are struggling, just takes a bit of experience. Don't call me a FRAUD unless you are prepared to stop being a COWARD and say it to my face, I am entitled to my opinions. As for Fergie spending 80m in the transfer market, with the greatest respect to one of the greatest managers who have ever lived, many of his buys have, IN MY OPINION, been pretty poor.

I agree with that but to be fair, alot of these buys were for the future but the players were used before they were intended to be.
SAF doesnt make many mistakes but he is human.
Its a difficult one as we really dont know for sure if we have any money, but we do need at least 2 maybe 3 world class players if we want to win the big trophies. Right now, I cant see us doing that.

Another official that has made the wrong calls at the wrong times. Begs the question, is the game manipulated?
Vidic should have picked-up a red card and had committed enough offenses for two red cards in this game.
Manchester United allowing a nickname on a jersey has lowered the standard. Bending to the will of a footballer instead of holding the course.
Too scared to say no?

West Brom had some nice touches going forward. Man Utd were sloppy for much of the game with misdirected passes ... ridiculously so. Says a lot about the Premiership that they are still in the lead! Hernandez should be given more opportunity ... his header was well taken, even if unmarked.

Would not disagree with a word of that, but I'd still feel nervous seeing Alex loose in the transfer market with 80 mil. I dare say if he bought five players he'd get a cracker a good un and a journeyman out of it. I guess it's the same with all managers though we all know as fans we could do better :-)
