Morning.

Deep down I think England will get it, simply because we are the best bid. We thought we were out of the running for London 2012, but the quality of our bid shone through in the end. Moreover I think there are a couple of other factors that play into our hands. It looks like that the next European World Cup will be 2030 - the 100th anniversary of the tournament. If that is the case then England will have an overwhelming argument for the tournament to come back to these shores. Simply put, if we don't win it today then FIFA will have backed themselves into such a tight corner they'll simply have to give us it next time around.

As for the other bid today Oz 2022 is my pick. The USA offer a strong bid and I actually wouldn't mind seeing it go to them, but I think Australia would be even more fun, except the TV times! If it goes to Qatar I'll simply give up on football.

One final point. The bidding system needs revamping, and the rule stating the same continent can't hold consecutive World Cups needs scrapping. Personally I'd like to see each confederation represented by a bid from their region, decided internally (UEFA chooses the best bid from within UEFA, for example). Then the final decision should be between the representative country of each confederation.

I think the press has done a big disservice to the English bid and they know themselves. Press freedom gone too far...

I have my world cup songs on waiting for the verdict getting very excited. Its like being transported back to June, except instead of some of the mos boring football matches ever we have presentations, which have about the same level of excitement as that last world cup, and its also a bit colder

What have Qatar shown us about their credentials in their video? That they can build a weird stadium? Somehow I don't think that's one of the requirements to host a tournament

We have put together a fantastic bid and on a level playing field think we would have won it hands down.

But after the mud slinging from the Russians and are daft media (Press & TV - you know who you are) who seem intent on ruining anything good for us, I'm not as 100% sure.

Think we still stand a very good chance

Gut feeling is that Spain/Portugal will get it but Netherium presentation was good and cannot deny how good the atmosphere was in Euro 2000 especially in Holland

England have the clear best bid by a mile, it's just whether they'll get the support after they almost scuppered their chances with the voting scandal

DAMN! TOO SLOW!!

A Qatar World Cup would be like having Christmas in Iraq. Slightly uncomfortable

Netherlands/Belgium and Portugal have already hosted tournaments since England last hosted one, so if one of them gets the vote, it will be UNFAIR!

Can anyone give me a link to the Russia promo?

You're all kidding yourselves - Russia appears to have it wrapped up (their odds are evens at best.)

Funnily enough Qatar are odds-on and clear favourites to get the 2022 nod - more info from Wikileaks in the near future, no doubt.

It would be truly monumental for my family if England were to secure the 2018 World Cup. Being married to a Brazilian, and living here, it would mean we would have the next 4 major tournaments in our home countries...8 years of excitement!

England 2018 and Australia or Qatar 2022 would be ideal i think, and i think it would be ideal for Fifa aswell, England 2018 would be one of the biggest earners for Fifa arguably the biggest, the money earned from 2018 would allow fifa to take a bigger gamble in 2022 with Australia or Qatar both deserve to host it though.

All we can really be sure of is that the decision doesn't revolve around the best stadia, transport or legacy.

Other factors are at work here.

Latest odds on most websites have had England drop from 3/1 third favourite to near-evens favourite in the last 24 hours...someone out there know something we don't?
