Hulkenberg is very good but . .

I think he had a car set up aimed slightly more towards a wet track. Maybe he had slightly more downforce and a slightly higher ride height, which would have made alot of difference. Great effort from him though, and good for the sport

Put him in a Red Bull or Ferrari and see what happens...

He got the right tyres at the right time and was given the right advice(by Rubens according to Patrick head) in order to get them to the right tempreture.

All the drivers but him took the first lap very cautious. The Hulk gunned it round and held on for dear life bringing his tyres to life quicker than the others. If session had gone on four a couple more mins he's have been outgunned by the Red Bulls easy - but it didn't and he got it spot on! Well done Hulk!

oh and I wouldn't start any of this I hate the Hulk nonsense like they do with Alonso etc etc because you'd make him angry - and you wouldn't like him when he's angry

<laugh> Hulkenberg was brilliant on saturday and his defending against both Lewis and Fernando was great which I actually think was more telling than qualifying. There was an awful lot of buzz around him before he came into F1 any way. Hard to tell how good he could be as yet, but showing a lot of promise I think.

I agree that there was a very old racing head on his young shoulders when he was defending his position. Just a shame that Williams felt forced to pit him early and drag him off his original race strategy, which I suspect would have better rewarded him.

The Hulk was overtaken in one of the shortest straight from the starting point in the history of f1 then was overtaken by the next at the next striaght

Blue Yahooze

I agree that he had no answer to the Red Bulls - but then nor did anyone else and holding them off in a Williams would require a miracle rather than excellent driving. He did however then defend extremely well against two of the best overtakers in the field, which is the reason for my comment.

Hulkenberg did pretty well seeing as he's driving a car which is on average 1 second off Red Bull's pace.

Fair enough he got swamped at the start a bit but he defended well against Alonso, and Hamilton didn't even manage to overtake him on track.

I dont think both RED BULL would pass Andrian Sutil or Kovy from starting to the end of the 1st lap...

So - you are backing a Cosworth to out drag a Renault off the line(both Hulkenberg and Kovy rely on Cosworth power)? Was Hulkenberg the first driver this year to lose a couple of places at the start?

If that is what you want to believe, then that is your choice. I will beg to differ. And as I said before my comments in any case related to his racing of Alonso and Hamilton.

Blue Yahooze -

in 2007 Hamilotn was beaten off the line on the shortest straight in F1 history by Kimi and by the 3rd corner had lost a place to Alonso.

So does that make Sutil and Kovy better than him?

This is getting very silly. Again.

Oh, I had absolutely no plans to start any hate nonsense. Hulkenberg is clearly an excellent driver, as they all are; you don't get to be on an F1 grid if you're rubbish.
But I still find it very puzzling that a mid-field car (regardless of the driver) can be SO much faster than the others.
