Hernandez...has to keep his place - period

he looks top quality. His movement off the ball and his finishing impressed me over the world cup and ever since ive seen him, but what has struck me is the quality of his link up and hold up play. He turned the last 10 mins of the game on its head single handedly, and had the good grace to retain possession late on, showing his intelligence and maturity.

Very composed finish, too.

He should keep his place along with berbatov because unlike some of our forward players they actually deserve to start, no doubt about it!

Funny how all those people slating SAF for his transfer policy this year seem to have shut up the last few days.

Lot less crying about "no value in the transfer market" now.

Guys, I am on a roll here, each time i watch Chicharito live he scores. That's from World Cup, pre-season, Charity Shield and thrugh the league.

I am so excited, can wait to see what he does next! I plead with Real Madrid to leave this one alone.

Hernandez is very impressive. our defensive frailties however are a concern. doesn't matter whether it is rio and vidic or smalling and calamity evans we seem to be shipping goals. perhaps the fault lies in the protection in front of them? the midfield have yet to control a game for possession like the old days and this may be playing a role in the amount of attacks our defence is left exposed to....also it doesn't help when someone as slow as Gary Neville is brought on to combat pacy wingers becuase apparantly experience lends you wings....

we did well considering this is the way we play these days. bit disappointed with Macheda. Having real problems with his hold up play and decision making at the moment.

I think Fergie will take him out of the team now and again to protect him don't you think - question mark.

Hernandez changed the game when he came on, but Bebe had a great full debut! Mustn't be forgotten! Also Obertan was very impressive, however Macheda didn't look up with the pace.

It seems that little princess is paying the rent at Old Trafford, pity it was only half full tonight. Fair play to Wolves, they had a go but simply don't have the reserves. Hopefully, their full team can do enough to stay up in the league. I think Ferguson really wants to retain this trophy because it's the only one he can retain and perhaps it'e his most realistic chance of silverware considering Chelsea, Arsenal, City and Spurs have all strengthened since last season. United have to think about replacing Giggs, Scholes, Van Der Sar and Neville. I know they can buy in January but so can everyone else. Ferguson is desperate to win one more to trump Liverpool. Chelsea will be too big an obstacle but it does promise to be exciting up until christmas.

Hernandez is an exciting prospect for Utd. He looks so at home, like he's been playing for us for ages. Others tonight look like they may struggle to make the mark but Hernandez looks on course to have an excellent career at Utd.

Little pea does it again but let's not cover over the cracks.

Midfield was a complete failure - yet again. Carrick is heading towards the exit door fast. The midfield is crying for a driving force and he is not it and nor for that matter is Gibson.

The defence was shocking. Neither Smalling nor Evans led the line well.

Amos did OK apart from flapping for the first equaliser. Amos has bags of potential and if he cuts out the mistakes then he'll be a solid keeper at Utd, maybe not first choice material.

Bebe needs more game time but I like his direct approach. Needs to improve his touch, movement and crossing but bags of potential there. Another player who impressed with his direct running was obertan.

Until Little Pea came on I thought the attack was toothless. Macheda needs to learn from Chicha. The little pea's touch, awareness and movement was the reason Utd won. He would've got a bag full of goals had been on earlier but considering his exploits on Sunday he was always going to get a limited outing.

look at the genius of SAF. with everyone attacking him for not spending money in the transfer market, he shows everyone you don't need too.

Developing world class players > buying superstars
for long term success. something man city will never understand

Hopefully those attributes will come with experience. I know United fans prefer Macheda because of his Villa exploits but he is inferior to Welbeck in terms of technique and athletisism so it is not that suprising that he struggled in every aspect of the game that didn't involve him getting a shot off.

The intelligent aspects of football will take a while.

Our midfield needs to be addressed. I fear our defensive frailties stem from our meekness in midfield. That an an inability to retain possession (not to the extent of Arsenal, that is overkill....but you get the point).

Don't mend a fence if its not broken. Hernandez to start and Berbatov to play with a rocket up his ass and rollerblades to help him move a bit faster. Looking laboured again this season not good news despite the goals

The capacity was 46,000. Which interestingly would still fill Stamford Bridge to capacity and have 4,000 waiting outside!

Have to laugh at Chelsea fans going on about the future considering the amount of 30+'s in their squad, along with completely untried youth. I'd love to know how future success is so much more assured there then it is anywhere else, especially when you consider that their supposed "invincible" side won its first major trophy since 2006 last season....

I have to admit the future of a few players looks bright but at the same time there are very worrying signs Evans looks like he is going backwards he never got close all night and people went past him very easily I am sorry but amos was poor second goal was his fault, very slow off his line for through balls the midfield is woeful admittidly i have never been a carrick fan but for the money we paid he has been a failure and last nigh was no better no creativity and can't hold a midfield, Gibson was not much better and the pairing just does not work JS Park despite his goal lacks quality his work rate is the only reason he is at OT his passing at time was child like Macheda.. well oh dear did not even wake up till HH came on the pitch I know WR went about it the wrong way but he did and does have a point we are not capable of winning the league now or in the near future with this midfield!

what was and is the point of bringing GN on at right back he might as well leave the kids on at least they may improve and be the future of MU he is totally unable now to be an effective player in the PL thanks for the service mate but its time you faced the facts!!

Gary Neville has been a terrific servant to the club but I think his days as 1st choice right-back are numbered.

Whether Raphael is the answer remains to be seen: he's a bit too mercurial at the moment - he's very rash sometimes and goes down too easily for my liking. On the plus side, he's young, quick and skilful.

I agree with the OP in that Hernandez looks the real deal. What I've seen of him so far this season has been very encouraging, not least that he always seems to have a smile on his face.

At the very least it's 'so far, so good, and maybe, just maybe, we've unearthed a diamond here.

Nice to see Berbs playing to his strengths, too - the man is genuis; absolutely outstanding.

I don't think Rooney has much to worry about at OT - he is one of the best players in the world and has been rewarded accordingly, and he is at at the best club in the world.

As for focus, well, he's a professional, and just like professionals in all fields, he should be able to concentrate and do his job in a professional manner. Good as he is, if an ear-bashing from his better-half disrupts his focus and he plays bad because of it, then as far as I'm concerned, world-class or not, he would have to go.

Personally, I think Rooney is like Eric in that OT is 'his stage', therefore I don't believe he will leave as long as the club is 'up there'.

It's funny how many people call us 'glory hunters' for supporting Man U. I've been here since the late 50's, through thick and thin, and it was primarlily thin until Eric landed.

So yep, I'll take the glory, thank you very much - it was a long time coming and we deserve it. We deserve it because we earn it and we deserve it because we're the best.

Agreed about Carrick - we hadn't won the title for 4 years, signed him from Spurs in 2007 and promptly won it 3 years on the trot.

No, he didn't win it on his own, but yes, he was a contributing factor.

Very much under-rated.
