Henson is saying he wants to leave Ospreys to be closer to his kids. The article goes on to state "Henson claims he has tried to persuade the Ospreys to let him leave for the past nine months."

I just did a quick google search and he only split with her in May, so why was he trying to leave his contract for the previous 6 months?

I too hope he comes back to play for the Wasps so we can get this myth out of the way once and for all.

Well Gavin clearly Wasps want him. Also Henson stated he wants to be an outside half which is where Wasps are quite short on cover for at the moment.

I think the most ardent rugby fan just wants to see him play again. It would be alright for me to see him lining up for Wasps against the Dragons at Rodney Parade and Adams Park in December particularly as i will be at both games.

We should start a campaign to get him voted of Strictly.

HongKong - good point because when they split she bought him a house near hers in Wales, so why go to London to be "near his kids" if they live in Wales? I reckon he just wants out of Wales and the Ospreys full stop.

If he wants to go that badly why don;t he or wasps just pay up his contract.

Why didnlt he come out and say this is how he felt 9 months ago and a deal could have been sorted in the summer?

why did he sign up for 2 tv shows and make himself unavailble for rugby for so long.

If wasps or he pay up the rest of his contract , the ospreys should let him go and I;d wish him well in the future.

If they won't he needs to get himself back to the liberty and get training and playing,

If he has a house (digs) in both London and Wales, he has the best of both worlds for seeing his kids.
He may well have become fed up at the Ospreys and wasn't willing to do a few games with Neath (or some other premiership feeder club)
After all 'He's Gavin Henson!!'
:)

Whatever the reasons, he doesn't want to play for the O's. Lets just sort it and get him back on the pitch somewhere.

I can't see why the Oprey sjust don't loan him out to Saracens/Harlequins/Wasps or London Irish. I think they should loan him out and get that club to pay his wages.

There is no sense in having him at the Ospreys and being unhappy because he won't perform.

Good luck to him I say, although I hink he'll probably find it will take more than 1 or 2 games to reach 6 nations form.

I guess all the interview isn't available yet but from what I've seen so far nothing has convinced me about the veracity of his utterances.
Yes, IF the children live in London then his ambition to be close is laudable, and as a role model he is setting a good example. However he also talks about banter from the boys at the Liberty.
Dont misunderstand me but I would think that if he TOLD the manangement those were his fears then they would talk to the other players, rugby players they may be but insensitive idiots they're not.
Finally he talks about maybe HAVING to play for the Ospreys again, all in the context of playing for Wales, nothing about helping the Ospreys achieving anything, then goes on to say that he just might have to play for Swansea. That is something the guy refused to do after he failed to turn up for a Heineken game.
Personally I just wish that the Ospreys woulf turn him lose and then good luck to the team that he does turn out for............they'll need it.

If he's that serious about moving to London, will we see him playing for London Welsh or Esher to prove his fitness up and prove he can hack it at 10?

Are any of the London clubs likely to have a Henson-sized whole in their wage budgets? Either from the salary cap or in terms of what they can actually afford?

wasps looks his club of choice and i'd guess they have enough of a gap in their salary cap.

Quins and sarries I guess are the other options and both could afford him if they wanted him!)

Gavs head has often been critisised and sometimes with justification, but anyone here he cannot understand the anguish of having any bloke Charlotte takes a fancy too (and with her God knows how many of them there will be) bringing up your kids and having more access to them than you do, is a)pretty unreasonable b)clearly never had it happen to them c)never had kids

Of course this will mess your head up for God's sake.

I think that he is wildly overly optimistic if that he thinks that after 2 club games he will have done enough to replace Stephen Jones or Dan Biggar at 10 - I cannot understand why he so desperately wants to play outside half. He's not made it there in the past - I think its unlikely he'll be a brilliant 10 after a years break from the game... just bizzarre.

Why would Quins want him when we have a genuine proffessional fly half in Evans?

London Irish are about the only 'London' Club that need a fly half and they probably couldn't afford him.

Saracens could afford him, but they are backing their young gun Goode.

Wasps can barely afford the kit boy let alone Henson.

I think it's more than a coincidence that Henson suddenly wants to move to FlyHalf, when the London based club he is so heavily linked with is short at FlyHalf. If so then its a bad move by Wasp's, they already have one centre playing FlyHalf would they really risk another? I can't see any other London club being interested. Interestingly according to OK, Charlotte and the kids live in Wales, even in an 'honest' interview there's a lot of smoke.

Think she has work commitments in London, don't know what they are but it's what the article implys. Maybe it would be for the best if the Osprey's just loan him out for the rest of the season. Will dump the media circus onto somebody else and he isn't contributing anything.

Just because Henson wants a move to fly-half, doesn't mean he'll get one.

Riki Flutey on the other hand plays where HE'S told to play. For the Double-Header, was moved to fly-half, did it. I really wouldn't mind Henson at Harlequins, at centre, no need for him at fly-half to be honest, Nick Evans and all. Maybe as cover if Evans were injured, move him to fly-half from centre. Henson and JTH, would be niiiiiiiiiiice!

Henson is a sad emblem of all that is wrong with celebrity culture. He has personal problems and that is unfortunate. His attitude to rugby however, leaves a lot to be desired. Players who go through pre-season and work so hard to make the Welsh team will feel utterly betrayed if Gav comes back,
- at his time of choosing;
- to his club of choice;
- after a stint as a dancer,
and waddles into the Welsh six nations squad. What kind of message would that send to aspiring Welsh players?

Personally - as an Ospreys fan - I think it's time to let him go. If he has said that remaining at the Liberty is the last thing he wants to consider at the moment then what's the point in keeping him there? It implies to me that his heart isn't with the Ospreys at the moment so keeping him here won't benefit the club on or off the pitch.

Also, surely this is potentially hindering the welsh side, if he is serious about returning, as keeping him off the pitch and out of training with clubs is only going to slow his recovery and return to form/fitness. Although, with the quality floating around the Welsh side - he's got his hands full! Where would you put him?!

#10 - Jones
#11 - Williams
#12 - Roberts
#13 - Hook
#14 - Halfpenney
#15 - Bryne

Holley should let him go - even if purely for financial reasons! They will not need to bring in another player and, despite not knowing the finances of rugby transfers and players, surely he still commands a hefty price tag?

Gav is a quality player and will be sorely missed but with the sheer quality in depth that the Ospreys have, it would be nearly impossible for him to return to form and match fitness with them!

I seem to recall that Josh Lewsey decked Danny Cipriani with a good right hook during training at Wasps...accusing him of being a celebrity obsessed show-pony and not taking his rugby seriously.

Lucky for Gav that Josh has retired. Seriously, I can't see Wasps or anyone else wanting him. He's expensive, he hasn't played for 18 months and his whole attitude, as throughout his career, really stinks. Would you want him in as the man to bind your team together? His media profile and errr...medical problem (inflammation of the" I") would be a cause of all sorts of problems in any squad

Got to say I don't think Gavin really knows what he wants. He just sounds like he's at a low point in his life and wants a change of scenery. All that fluff about being closer to his kids, getting better reviews by playing outside Wales has an element of truth but really he just wants to escape and get his head together on his own for a bit.

No probs with that, but if he reckons that he'll be in contention for a 6N spot after a couple of games he's on a different planet! As many have said on here get him out of the Osprey's perferably on load and get him playing rugby. I reckon it'll be good for him to just focus on that for a while.

Little bit of a strange situation this. He's been on unpaid leave for a while now and now Ospreys are asking him to honour his contract and don't want him to leave.

He says he wants to play in London but we know in reality of the four 'London' clubs only 1-2 really play in London Harlequins in Twickenham and sort of London Watford for Saracens.

As the article it's self says

'Henson's name has been linked with a number of clubs, among them Wasps, but he says playing in London is his preference'

Indicating that perhaps he doesn't want to go to 'Wycombe' Wasps.

I also don't see why any of the four clubs would want him, certainly not Harlequins and Saracens, as most have recognised and settled players in centre and fly half.

Bearing in mind that Henson can obviously survive off no wages will he be ready to accept a big cut? If so would London Welsh be an option? The deal could work for both the club and the player. Giving Henson time to make his come back and establish himself again in a less pressured environment and London Welsh a big name player and crowd draw.
