Fair play Tangerine fans, great result for you today ok

I mostly agree with you Garry, although like a lot of others on here, I'm pretty gutted at what I've seen today.

A few choice results from last season:

Chelsea 4-1 West Ham
Chelsea 8-0 Wigan
Chelsea 4-0 Wolves
Chelsea 7-2 Sunderland
Chelsea 7-0 Stoke
Chelsea 5-0 Blackburn
Chelsea 7-1 Villa

We ain't the first, and we won't be the last. It's slim comfort, but this result does not decide our season.

This result means nothing to West Brom's season, realistically I doubt even the most optomistic WBA fans thought they would get much at the Bridge! I wouldnt be too downhearted either, as I felt in the middle they played some good stuff and there were spells of the game, especially in the first half where they had some alright possession... Think they require a better quality forward though... As far as Chelsea are concerned, felt we played at a relatively gentle pace and am thrilled with that start. Good to hit the ground running and am very excited to see Ramieres come into the team! Hopefully one more creative attacking signing and that would be perfect! Looks like it's gonna be an exciting season hopefully

Good post, Mark. I was actually pretty chuffed with the way we played between the first and second Chelsea goals, forty minutes of decent possession football with minimal defensive errors, although our passing moves kept breaking down in the final third, a lot of credit for which should go to solid Chelsea defending. Shame we couldn't keep it up for the full ninety.

Thought WBA done well. The scoreline is just unfortunate and Chelsea have hammered clubs that have not just been promoted far more.

Take heart you created more chances than lots of the established sides in the Premier League will do.

OK we lost 6-0 and either

Chelsea couldn't be bothered in between goals or we showed that we can play a bit too.

Was there an Albion fan globally that didn't think we'd struggle in the final third?

Despite the hammering I thought our back line and especially our centre halves looked like the real deal.

Our midfield had a huge amount of possession without being able to breach their back four but Thomas ripped Ferrera a new hole. We haven't done that at top level since Cunningham.

If we produce that level of display against teams that results matter against we'll have a chance of getting points. We were thumped and I think at times Chelsea let us play but I was heartened by the performance of Tamas and Ibanez.

Carson however needs to get his act together on Monday or he'll end up going down the leagues. He was shocking today. No authority at all when organising his walls despite being the skipper. Got to be dropped or there was no point in bringing in Myhill.

Very ominous beginning to the season from Chelsea, looks like last season never ended. They will take some stopping this season.

But to Mr Mourinho, while your head-to-heads against United, Liverpool and Arsenal was remarkable, remember that was last season and is not guaranteed to happen like that.

Just a thought. ok

West Brom were a disgrace! Yes they were playing the 1st or 2nd best team in the country, but still, to lose 6 - 0 against a chelsea side who lost their last few games in pre season is nothing short of a disgrace.

If they cant even motivate themselves for the first game of the season they might as well give up now! However i do believe when they line up against Manchester United they will have eleven men behind the ball at all times and will be throwing themselves at every single shot, pass and cross. Why? Well like most teams will do, they will let Chelsea walk through them and let them score as many as want, however will fight to the death against Manchester United. I honestly can not think of answer why.

Chelsea were exceptional but lets be quite frank this is west brom. Too good for the championship, just not good enough for the prem has been their plight for a long long time. Trying to play like Arsenal with their players will only get them annihalated in this particular league. Something tells me this will not be there only mauling for the season. Teams like Arsenal, Villa and Tottenham will be licking their lips at the prospect. I do not add United to this list becuase for some reason we rarely hammer teams (even when there are opportunities a plenty)...it almost feels like we conserve energy and keep the humiliation at mediocre levels (although I guess the ABUs would say we just can't lol winkeye).

Anyway Drogba has started the season in mean form. Even at his age he is a terrifying forward. I wonder how many forwards would retain his phenomenal physical and technical skills even into their 3rd decade. As a United fan I am grateful for what Wayne Rooney has done for us last year but he just isn't in the same league as Didier. A range of goals, one of Chelsea's first lines of defence against set pieces, an entertaining character and rapidly forging a reputation as a free kick specialist also. A wonderful footballer.

Hopefully we can start the season as well as Chelsea have. Slow starts shouldn't be on the cards for a club with our aspirations.

Previously Chelsea were failing to beat teams at the bottom of the table and it's these teams they need to use as a buffer against the top teams.

Like all teams, they will have off days, but with the confidence of winning it's down to the others to reach their standard.

They have so many players capable of scoring along with players who can feed the goalscorers. So that's why I make favs to retain the tile.

Chelsea were far from theor best, 6-0 flattered us somewhat. We still have a considerable amount of improvement to come as the players gain proper fitness and match sharpness. West Brom did play some decent stuff in midfield yesterday. Take heart Baggies, sort out your set piece defending and keeping errors and you will pick up points.

Oh Eintract 1895 - you are a mug son! Anyone with a little football knowledge must realise that the Chelsea team pre-season was seriously undercooked. Ditto comments reference last weeks Charity Shield.

Meanwhile, I think it's not a bad thing to give CHELSEA credit, at least for now.

The difference between pre-season and season was more than one week. A goalkeeper known at the bridge as hilarious instead of Petr Cech and Drogba playing only 30 minutes. Time will tell this year and a seemingly disinterested Rooney could United's undoing.

Thought the game was awful. West Brom played some great passing football to start but once the goals went in it collapsed. Much preferred watching Tottenham and Man City. This game was tripe even though there were 6 goals. Chelsea are very fortunate to have lots of easy teams to start the season, that way they can warm up before meeting some true opponents.

Lovely to see Di Matteo come home for a visit and hope he enjoyed the lesson. Yes, Chelsea aren't at their best, Yes, we lose focus during games and yes, we are striving to improve. However, we have learned to be vicious killers without remorse and when we are focused we are the most dangerous animal in the premier league. I've no doubt that a fully fit Essien, Drogba, Lampard, Malouda, Cech, Terry, Cole, Anelka and assorted delicacies can and will be too strong for the premier league. If you doubt it then look at the end of last season and the start of this season....pre season was a warm up and Chelsea offered to be hit because the pain was minimal. United can threaten all they want, Chelsea won't be psyched out, we have coped with the Terry lies, Cole controversy and general bad mouthing from the lower end of creative journalism. let the kids decide who the real entertainers are...Every boy wants to be Drogba, power, pace, passion and loyalty. Bury you heads in shame if you think you have seen a better center forward. Hail the King!

True but you can only play the opposition in front of you and we have 3 points and +6 goal difference. Not bad for an unconvincing, not fit spluttering side.

And to west broms credit they held their shape well and worked hard. You can't fault Thomas and Bednars work rate. I also thought the holding midfield player 21? was terriffic considering the job he had to do. I'm not having the "only west brom" drivel from the man u wums - the reason we did win heavily is that we did show them due respect.. They will get some results this year.

Di matteo might think about the pressing game thoughas they looked decidedly leggy in the last half hour.
