I'm looking forward to whatever I get the chance to see!

The venues look good now they're taking shape, and hopefully our athletes can be inspired by home support. I guess Australia would dearly love to stick one on GB by finishing above them in the medal table

The obvious one is Bolt. What more can he do/can powell or gay get anywhere near him/will he ever do 400m
However, I think Jessic Ennis in the heptathalon is the one for me, and whether she can get gold and break any records

All the coverage on radio etc this morning has got me excited now. I want to try & get tickets for Athletics, Swimming, Rowing, Cycling & Gymnastics. I will also try & watch some of the free events in London if I can. I am also keen to take the opportunity to go & see something different like handball.

Now I simply cannot countenance those pesky Aussies beating us on our home soil. It simply must not happen. Also I am not sure that Russia will up their gane from Beijing. As they are hosting the Winter Games in 2014 & having underperformed by their standards in Vancouver, I can see the focus in Russia being much more on Winter Sports for the next 4 years.

Sorry, the Olympics leaves me cold. Judging by the amount of interest generated by this thread, I'm not the only one.

Is this live build up for the next two years? winkeye

Really looking forward to the 4x110m-three legged-hurdle-egg and spoon-relay.

I'm looking forward to all of it and I'm hoping to be in and around the area when it's on - already blagged a room at my mates down there.

Highlight will be 100m. Saw Usain Bolt run the 150m in Manchester a few years ago in the rain and that was incredible. If I can be in the stadium when that's on.

Other things to look forward to - cycling - hope Wiggo and Cav are there and also seeing who will be the unknown 'star' of the games - like Eric The Eel was a few years ago. There will still be some Olympic Spirit around by then I hope.

Not excited at all. No benefit to my country (Wales) yet I have to pay to fund it.

Its going to be great when it happens, but its only for 2 weeks. Life goes on and we need to put the whole think in perspective.

I remember seeing the post shots of Vancouver earlier in the year, the party had finished and people had their daily lives to get back to.

The Olympics appears to me to be a big con !!! my son was born on 20th December (20/12) 2004 as part of the Olympic Childrens Commitment children born on this day were supposed to be involved with the Opening / Closing ceremony.

When we looked for more information about registering (bearing in mind that there are still 2 years to go) we were told registration had to be made before the child turned 1. When asked why, we were told that this was so that they could plan the ceremonies - yet they have only just appointed a director. Total con. As we have been telling our son about his lucky birthday it is now our unfortunate job of telling him that he won't be taking part after all !!!

My highlight would be a track and field athlete not on drugs winning a medal or even reaching a final but its not going happen.

The power walking events, just to see a bunch of people that have trained for years just to walk in a funny way a bit faster than the other people walking fast in a funny way.

What a stupid event! It's for semi-lazy people who are up for a race but can't be bothered with the effort of running!

Too close to call. Rowing ? Cycling ? Athletics ? Swimming ? Triathlon ? Looking forward to them all. I just hope that all those Footy fans that like to dismiss the olympics still feel that way when the tickets come up for sale. Please do stick to the world cup as that was worth waiting 4 years for wasn't it ?

The closing ceremony. Hopefully at that point everyone will stop banging on about this horrendous waste of resources.

When Lord Coe stops being so smug about spending £9 Billion of our taxes on temporary facilities.

If anyone thinks we need another rotting pile of athletics track they have never visited Crystal Palace.

I'll be looking forward to the Fencing. There are some really strong contenders for the teams on the current olympic pathway, like Keith Cook who won the British Championship this weekend.
People should definately try and watch sports like Fencing that they would never normally watch. Lets get behind all our British Olympians not just the athletics!

I'd just like to know how much, on top of the bill for the Olympics, a 2 years to go celebration is costing us all!? Given we're meant to be saving money isn't this all a bit ridiculous, we know it's going to happen after all. Are we going to get an 18 month, a year and a 6 month celebration too? Seems pointless.

Has to be the ultimate Olympics event - the 100 metres final. Shame there won't be any representative from GB in the final

Ohuruogu: "The last time I came the seats weren't in and we stood somewhere close to the start line of the 400m..."

Is the 400m start line not also referred to as the finishing line?
